Sunset Shimmer is a master thief who uses clever tricks to steal with her partner, Starlight Glimmer. After discovering that the money they robbed from a casino is counterfeit, they go to the country of Everfree, which is rumored to be the source of the forgery. But, when they enter the country, Sunset Shimmer comes across her ex-boyfriend, Prince Rough Draft, who is being forced to marry the ruler of the country, Queen Adagio Dazzle. With the help of Starlight Glimmer, and a samurai named Tempest Shadow, Sunset Shimmer goes on a heist to rescue the love of her life while trying to find out the queen's sinister plot. Will she stop Queen Adagio Dazzle and save the prince, or will she be captured by her longtime enemy, Inspector Twilight Sparkle?

Adapted from the 1979 anime film directed and co-written by Hayao Miyazaki, Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro.

well this is certainly inspired

Believe it or not I never heard of lupin the third until watching the Castle of Cagliostro and I loved it

Neither did I. I tried watching the show, but it was a little too much. Not exactly as family friendly ish as the movie.

10420881
Yeah I guess but it's still cool

Ok nice story. It's lining up nicely with movie.
Question who's playing Fujiko and Zenagaka

10420881
which show did you try? Part 4 is pretty family friendly, part 5 has an arc thats gritty but most of its pretty easy to watch.

the older series are more difficult though, 70s japanese anime is just hard to watch

I started at part 1 because it's the beginning of the show.

10430349
oh that kind of explains it. Lupin isn't exactly something that's linear, the various parts are individual series that loosely take place after each other, like part 5 has some definite callbacks to 4 but they all are fairly standalone

Part 4 was what I started watching and then 5 when it came out. the earlier series especially 1 didn't have the character established quite yet because the show Lupin is very different from his manga incarnation so much so that the author disowned the more famous anime portrayal because he wanted lupin to be like a real bad guy not just a master thief

Interesting. I imagine the author isn't very fond of the movie either.

I didn't see the lupin's movie, so I don't know what are the reference from the movie, but this chapter look for me a lot like the Sly Raccoon serie on playstation 2, with Sunset being sly, twilight being inspector carmelita, etc...

Anyway, another great chapter, now to wait for the next one =).

I just finished this chapter (finally). You might want to consider breaking it up, as 8,000 words is not as easy a read as it sounds.

On a side note, interesting to see Cozy Glow here. I wonder what awaits her character in the future?

Well, it would be tricky to break it apart. Originally, the part with Adagio and Cozy Glow was meant to be in the beginning of chapter 4, but it felt kind of off. Ultimately, I thought having chapter 3 ended with revealing was up to made more sense.

Lupin III

Hell yeah! This be like my flow right here. To be honest, Lupin’s theme from the special about Alcatraz sung by Monkey Majik be my theme song.

Sunset Shimmer: "(sighs) I guess we really have no choice but to ask her".

Tempest Shadow: "What are your intentions, Shimmer?"

(Sunset starts looking for a radio in the wreckage of the plane)

Sunset Shimmer: "There's one woman who would come for me anywhere in Equestria".

(Her allies wonder what she was planning, until she finds the radio and tunes in a certain signal.)

Sunset Shimmer: "(smiling) Oh hello~"

(A few minutes later, Twilight Sparkle arrives with a helicopter, very furious)

Twilight Sparkle: "SUNSET SHIMMER!!"

Great story! Absolutely loved it.
