I really don't think that exercise was too fair for Dash though, because humans have way longer legs compared to their arms than a pony, and the knees of their hind legs go forward, not back.
Am I misunderstanding this, because I don't think human RD has ever been turned into a pony in canon, but I might be wrong!

If you check the link that Sorden provided you would see that the basic structure is the same between horses and humans (and most terrestrial vertebrates). The problem is that you are thinking of their ankle. A common mistake.

Huh... I didn't notice it till you pointed it out. I know the hoof is really an exagerated toenail and thought it just encompassed the whole foot. But, if you really look at it, horses are walking on their tiptoes.

According to the schematic the equivalent to the human knee is called "stifle", but I'm just a schmuck with google; I don't know how accurate or encompassing the info is. To make matters more confusing, I just saw that horses do have a part of their body called "knee", but it's in the foreleg and the counterpart to our wrist.
There's probably a story buried somewhere under all those stifles, ankles, knees and huffalumps...
