This is getting interesting.

Aww, yeah, two of my favorite stories updated. Woo!
Soren, overwritten.
I don't know if that's a reference to something, it just.... Felt right.
*yawn* man gettin tired just got back from work at 6:30am and find my favorite Background pony story updated!
i was like the i was like and now im back at
This reminds me of First Pony View.
Male turned female.
Human turned pony.
Memories replacing old memories.
Mind being a plaything of the body.
Yep, good times are to be had.

I think things look much better for Soren because he has technically access to Twilight, who can probaly undo the effects of the backup memory. However, does that mean pegasi have a such backup memory too? In their wings, perhaps. How about earth ponies?
1115085 Dunno. I envisioned it as an evolved mechanism in the race that relies most heavily on magic. Never actually considered whether the other races might have such a failsafe, but with the training and understanding required for magic―compared to what I reckon would be a natural inbred instinct in a pegasus to fly―probably lead to this bizarre stroke of evolution. It might not have been a natural one. It could very well have been something somepony like Star Swirl the Bearded introduced.

That sounds quite fascinating, and very scientific. Amazing, really, that you came up with a such theory, if I may call it that . Still, I hope all will turn well for Soren, even though I predict he'll endure tough times at the latter end of his week (if his stay in Lyra's body will be that long).
1116288 I'm a bit of a subscriber to the science-fiction train of thought, with a bit of fantasy thrown in for good measure. If one can use a sci-fi aspect and give it a fantasy application, all the more fun.

I think I understand, and I greatly appreciate that line of thinking .
And all of a sudden, pool :D.
1120221 C'mon, how often do we get ponies in pools?
1120238
...(sinks back into chair and resumes business, not giving any more bucks)
Ah, it's good to see that Suomibrony picked this up... First Pony View is good...
1144646 Yup. First Pony View is actually one of my favorite active fan-fiction stories at the moment.
I'm a little bemused that this hadn't made its way to EqD, considering this story's heavily influenced by a query posted there. Is it the short chapter lengths that prohibit it from being featured there?
Oh by the way . . .
1144740
Thanks ! I'll get a new chapter out very soon, I promise.
1153350 I actually haven't considered sending this in to Equestria Daily. Just for submission prep I'd need to do a major edit run that would require me to take this project far more seriously than I planned on [not that it isn't taking a swing in that direction anyway]. I'm still writing this one for fun, so putting my team of editors through an edit job is basically out of the question, y'know?
I have a different project in mind for them, just as soon as I finish up the contest I'm running on deviantART at the end of the month. The sequel to my EqD featured fic Displaced is in the works, and as soon as I have the cover fresh from the contest [clever way to inspire group activity in the deviantART #Bronies group, as well as get a nice cover], I'll be ready to make my move.
I'll eagerly be awaiting Chapter 10 of First Pony View, and likewise, you can probably expect to see Chapter 9 of When a Pony Calls fairly soon too.
1153859
Oh well, I thought it'd been nice there as the pinnacle of that little EqD post. Maybe one day it will... or maybe it won't. Might be a bit late for that. Or who am I to say? Ah, never mind! Still, don't these endeavors always start as nothing more than fun little projects? I mean, yeah, 10 hours of work resulting in 3,000 words of exploring existence as a pony in my home with a little twist thrown toward the end, and look where it's at now. Sure, it's still fun no doubt, but to write and hear what other say about it is practically the best reason for why I want to wake up in the mornings. Not that I wouldn't have a reason to wake up, but a fan fic of my own and its reception is unchallengable.
Anyhow, I might want to read sotries by others occasionally, for entertainemnt and to get some perspectives and ideas, you know? Don't think I haven't read this and thought "Wow! Why hadn't I thought of that?"
By the way, you got a team of editors? Awesome! I got one editor and one pre-reader. Well, better than nothing. Oh, and an artist. Now that's super awesome! Not saying you should feel bad, since you're an artist yourself.
Anyway, I may wonder what the next chapter unveils. In the meantime, I got some pretty important things to do .
1155145 You'd be surprising how easy it is to find people to edit for you if you ask once your story has a certain following, I find. Maybe try it out?
1155650
I might consider that.
wow, lighting a ball of water of fire, ether you're very talented, or extremely unlucky
1173298 Considering what soon follows in Chapter 9, I'm definitely leaning towards unlucky.
Might I ask what is gelding? I'm not familiar with the term.
Interesting chapter. The whole "Mind being overwritten" thing makes me glad that I'm not in Soren's horseshoes.
1173298
What are you talking about? Sweetie Belle does it all the time.
That awkward moment where you check the authors blog posts for the exact same blog post mentioned in this chapter but not finding it... Oh my hopes...
k
I loved this chapter pur Soren now he has to worry about losing himself in her body while at least he got some pool time and come on bonbon chill out it's still Lyra inside
as I let my flank take the brunt of the water-landing, I can tell that it’s exactly am.
Why would the back-up overwrite her own memories, wouldn’t she just wind up with both?
10354002
Because it's a back-up, not an installer. The point of a back-up is to restore things back to a certain point, instead of adding things on top of what's already there.
