Nice little fanfic, I haven't seen a whole lot of fanfics that focus on the more mother-son element to Twilight and Spike, and I thought you did it quite well for how simple it was. Very nicely done.

Lauren Faust said her head canon was that Celesita raised Spike before giving him to Twilight, and most fans consider that the case. However Spike being raised by Celesita has never stated or shown in the show itself.
The MLP comic however had a recent issue that showed that Twilight raised Spike from the moment of her first day of school.

Thanks. I had considered expanding the story part a bit, but really it was meant to be quick and simple, so I didn't want the bedtime story to start to overtake the story itself.

Very cute story. I particularly am fond of the Mother / Child bond you created between Spike and twilight. The whole adventure with Obsidian Spark reminded me a lot of how I, as a parent, would help my son get to sleep when he was younger. It really is amazing how a good story, or song, can make getting a restful night sleep a whole lot easier.
If I may share, I have been going blind my whole life and am totally blind now. Over the course I was in the hospital quite a bit and, on one occasion, was stuck in a hospital for over a month 200 miles away from home. However I still was able to call home and sing songs and share stories with my son and it helped him get rest at night.
So, for me, this story reminds me of a time where being a parent was more about ensuring happiness through creativity with a child. My son and I still do it, as he is 10 now, but you really hit home well with the feeling of knowing you only have a few precious years of such simple joys for your kid before they move on. :)

This is a very sweet story, I especially love the part where Twilight has been telling a bedtime story since he was little. I always thought of Twilight and Spike as mother and son, and seeing how cute their interaction is here is so heartwarming.
