Echo 27

Heart of my own heart, how can I let you go? Love of my life, why go where I cannot follow? Why must you leave me behind, to live on without you? My love, my love, what am I going to do without you?

Sorry for it being such a long wait, it's been a wild time here in the Army. I've had a helluva return home.

yesss the story that has an unusual ability to pull on my heartstrings finally has a sequel. I shall prepare the tissues for the eventual crying mess i become.

Ooh, a challenge. I can't wait!

I've been waiting for so long and I'm overjoyed now that this story is finally here to be a sequal to your previous great story.

Thanks a lot! Hopefully I'll do the original justice.

heart longer: Lieutenant Armor sitting in the midst of the crowd and giving him a tip of his Stetson,

Should be Big Mac? Unless Shining took a siesta on a ranch we don't know about :p

So glad to see more of the story that plays with my heart like no other. Excited for more from you!

Nah, it's correct. The United States Cavalry wears a Cavalry Stetson at formal events with the Dress Uniform, or at events directed by the Unit Commander. For an example, take a look here: i.ytimg.com/vi/Ls91NHV1aHw/maxresdefault.jpg

The Cavalry is an odd animal in the military, since much of what we do hasn't really changed at all in our time, save for our mode of transportation. Instead of horses, we possess a number of military vehicles at our disposal. The Stetson is a relic from older days- Hell, the Army Dress Uniform is even the old Cavalry uniform.

Well ok then, learn something new everyday. Didnt know that was a thing.

You should see the spurs. I just earned my silver ones last week.

I'm really enjoying this. The first couple weeks after my first deployment were probably the most stressful that I can remember. I'm not a combat troop, so it could have been a lot worse, but you still see things and transitioning is difficult at times. Thank you for showing this side of it, and great job! Keep up the amazing work!

Thanks. I think trauma and the difficulties of military life aren't usually well-presented in media, so I want to show what our lives are really like, and demystify the effects of trauma somewhat

Uhhh the emotions in this story just bring me to tears. Why must I be so sensative!

Oh poor Dash... Sunset just got her first taste of losing someone close to war didn't she?
So Twilight is some sort of higher up in the Intelligence community as well? Wonder if she keeps in contact with Sunset as well.
Glad to see another interesting chapter!

Actually, Twilight and Sunset never met. The third EQG film was released after I started the previous story, so it never became part of the timeline. SciTwi is an element that's been relatively untouched so far.

Yknow I was questioning whether they had actually met after I posted it, but thought I was just forgetting it. Thanks for clarifying that!

It's all good. I just didn't want to add anything that had occurred after I began my own work so as to be less cluttered. Simplifying things helps when putting words to paper.

To be honest, that's probably one of, if not, the best fanfic i've read on this website by that I mean both, this one and "She's gonna kill me", been reading for 3-4 days straight, while being away on sickness. The story! The way of writing!Though I was quite surprised to see a sudden change from 1st person way of writing, to 3rd, but I am sure you had your reasons, and it's gonna get only better, as well as, revealing the the name of main character ( that was quite a surprise, considering you actually made a teasing note in of chapters of previous story :) ). Thank you very much, enjoying it greatly so far, and I honestly hope you didn't abandon this story. It's not as easy to read as first one, but nobody said it's gonna be easy, not with the war around. Stay safe where ever you are! :)

Sometimes I really wish that I could give a story more than just one thumbs up. Keep up the good work!

Simply awesome!!! Waiting always pays off with you!

For a moment, i thought i was reading "she's gonna kill me". Simply awesome! Finally it's back to normal, but keeping in mind promises you made in previous chapters' notes , it's not gonna be all so beautiful for a long time, but keeping fingers crossed. Good job mate!!!

It's a big adventure still ahead. We're not even halfway yet.

Keep checking in, my friend.

Looking forward for more, it is very nice to see chapters coming out more often now :)

Simply outstanding!!!! Looking forward for more!!!

And yeah, after your latest comment on last chapter, DONT YOU DARE FINISHING THIS STORY! :) I wish it would be going forever :)

Demons run when a good man goes to war.

! This story is too good. I can’t wait to see what happens ...

OMG MARC! no no no you have to come back to Sunset! You hear me!?!?

Still like this story, even when I get a little lost with the war stuff. Not your fault, a lot of combat sometimes confuses me. I wonder how Sunset's doing though...

She's not quite a primary character in this portion, the main roles will mostly be Shining Armor and Marc. But she will be present, such as next chapter which focuses on her.

I'M CRYING! Marc... Sunset...

I'll be waiting for that Epilogue!

Crazy chapter man, and I hope you mean May in that Authors Note lol.

9606827
Oh sonuva-

Yes, I mean May. Thanks for pointing that out (Can you tell I've got a lot on my mind?)

Woah, I barely kept up with ‘She’s gonna Kill me’
And get a few good chapters after many months. And you can get all this done?
Please teach me your ways 🥺

9619695
A lot of planning and time. Trust me, look at when this thing started.

9619742
Very true, still great storywriting. Glad I was in the first 100 to follow you.

Okay, you really had me last chapter. For real, I thought the worst. Yet, thank the stars they're okay! Awe, and they're cute bundle of joy as well. This story was an amazing sequel and I enjoyed the emotion all the way through!

Also, did I read the authors note right? There's MORE to come? Wow, you just keep going with this storyline. Good to know!

Been a while since I read something that made images float in front of my eyes as I was reading. Good job on depicting the horrors of war. I give you a 10/10 on that.

Wonder how he's going to cope with the scars of war. They don't go away, not even after decades.

First, great start.
Next, finally... loved the prequel but the profanity self-censorship in it got kinda annoying... it's worse than just omiting the swears altogether.
And, lastly... I honestly never expected you to name the protagonist.

Now, I'm just curious whether you did it, because you basically see him reborn from this event. Or if you just wanted to be able to write in third-person.

I've got to say, this and it's predecessor have probably been the strongest emotional impact a story has had on me. It was a solid half hour before I could get myself to pick up this story after finishing the last one, and this one has no less impact.
