This story is a sequel to Shadowbolts Adventures: Get Rekt Harder

Fluttershy invites all of her best friends from Canterlot High to her cottage for a fun day of playing games in her backyard and taking pictures for a website intended to show the world the true beauty of nature in all its forms. But when one of Fluttershy's most personal issues comes to light, Rainbow Dash just can't find it in herself to let her continue on that way. Can she convince Fluttershy that she really is beautiful?

I want Fluttershy's dad arrested and thrown away.

It's very hard for me to picture Fluttershy's father saying such a thing. But I suppose the two worlds aren't complete parallels. Always good to see Rainbow/Fluttershy friendship moments (and more?).

You know, just a be safe I think you should give this the Sex tag just to avoid another incident like the one with Apple Blooms a while back. Either way, great story even if Fluttershy's dad is OOC. Then again alternate universe...

Well, I didn't use the word "nipples" this time, and even if they decide it needs a sex tag it shouldn't be revoked because none of the participants are underage.

Truth is this is something a lot of people, male and female, are taught when they're young. Perhaps less severely, but I think most of us feel that way to an extent. Every time a parent orders their child to keep their clothes on and never to take them off, this is the kind of thing they're instilling in them.

And we wonder why so many people today grow up with self-esteem and body issues.

7461103

Yeah, Flutterdad from the show probably wouldn't do this, but this is human Flutterdad, and also this story was actually conceptualized long before that episode aired.

Small breasts? What the heck? In the movies themselves, she was shown as having some of the largest among them. And bony? ...I'm guessing that that's just her preconceptions twisting her view somehow.

this was a okay story but the OOC of Fluttershy's father is too much even if this is the human version of him

OKAY. So. Time to get my Mike Haggar on and piledrive Flutterdad through a car.

Hmm.

Okay, so...hmm.

Well, I will say this is well-written. I'll say that. Then again, that's never a problem with your stories, all of your stories are well-written.

That having been said, I have a lot of issues with this story, so it's not getting an upvote from me. It's not getting a downvote either, mind. What it is getting is my honest opinion.

I can't picture Fluttershy having body shame issues. It doesn't feature. I also can't see her wanting to do a naturalism shoot of her friends and put it online for millions of perverts to drool over. Which is what would ultimately happen, and Fluttershy isn't dumb. She'd be WAY too conscious of such things to EVER suggest this.

You say this was conceived long before Flutter Brutter aired, which means it was also conceived long before the recent wave of naturalism stories. That's fine and all, but the timing unfortunately lends to two things:

1. The problem with the perception of Fluttershy's father as being wildly OOC.
2. The problem with this looking like a bandwagon story.

Now, as to the latter...that's a "problem" you can ignore; I've certainly jumped on a bandwagon or two in my day, and dealt with the backlash, and endured. But it's likely to draw a lot of uncomfortable comparisons to certain other popular nudism stories running around right now, so you need to steel yourself for that.

And I'm going to be brutally honest concerning this wave of "naturalism" stories: They're bullshit. They're not just bullshit, they're obvious bullshit. They're a thinly veiled justification to write about naked teenage girls while pretending it's social commentary and issue-oriented.

It isn't. People who write these things want to write about naked teenage girls without looking like perverts.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it's genuinely something writers who do these stories care about and want to draw attention to. But I can't honestly see it that way. They're less genuine than the comedy fic "It's Just Anatomy!" from a couple years back that treated the subject as a source of comedy rather than an afterschool special or source of character realization drama.

Digressing from that, because I understand the point of this story wasn't the naturalism, it was Fluttershy's body shame...

The moral and message of this story would have made more sense if Twilight or Applejack were the conflict character. Fluttershy having body shame doesn't make sense in any context, and even moreso when it's caused by a strict upbringing. Hell, that ALONE makes Applejack a much more logical conflict character for this story.

Further dissection:

I can't see any of the Wondercolt girls except Sunset and Pinkie being at all cool with the idea of being photographed nude for an Internet site, and Sunset's debatable--she's been in the human world long enough and is smart enough to know EXACTLY what the outcome of that would be. Pinkie...wouldn't care because she's Pinkie. Rarity ABSOLUTELY would be scandalized at the idea. AJ just flat wouldn't go along with it. Rainbow would just roll her eyes and walk away in disgust. And so forth and so on. No. It doesn't make sense.

In the end, the only thing I have to say about this story that's in any way positive is that it's well-written, and even if Rarity would never deliberately involve herself in what the girls were doing, I can see her being the one who would bring the vanity body glitter. And Pinkie running wild with it.

But a "naturalism is healthy good" story with a body shame moral using Fluttershy as the conflict character and her dad as the strict and unintentionally emotionally abusive Christian father? No. Sorry. Doesn't work.

This is not by far your worst story, mind. But it's in your bottom five.

Worst clopfic ever

7461827 I agree. This would actually be a pretty bad story if, y'know, he wasn't a good writer

Honestly, I didnt get the message of her father calling her ugly or any of the sort. Instead I saw an over protective father who didnt properly explain himself or how modesty should truly work and in the end it was misunderstood. If anything the hidden message I saw was "Your body is not for others to just enjoy, you must treasure it", or something along those lines.

The sad truth is, even if the website in question is meant to be empowering, Those pictures WILL make there way to a porn site. As for Flutterdad, I'm glad you added that extra bit at the end to provide context. I was thinking he was a body shaming father but he's actually trying to protect her the best way he knows how. Given what was written, I highly doubt he intended for her to take it the way she did. This doesn't make him right, just unintentionally wrong.

Tbh, that bit with Fluttershy's father was unnecessary. I prefer my stories ambiguous, and I feel it could be just implied that Fluttershy has parental issues, leaving the details to reader's imagination. Or to be revealed bit by bit in next fics, in form of continuity nods.

"Yeah, that's right... we're alone on private property..."

I'm pretty sure that's how a lot of porn starts...

Wrestling

Naked wrestling? That's the idea I can get behind.

"Ugly!?" Rarity demanded. "Who in the world would ever call you ugly!?"
"It's the truth." Fluttershy nodded sincerely. "Nobody's ever asked me out, or even approached me at all besides you girls."

I can't stop thinking that this line wouldn't be out of place in a Futashy fic...

It's gonna take me days to find all this stuff and get it off."

You'd never believe where it got...

AJ's boyfriend: I have glitter on my dick.

That was a really good message, the kind that applies to real life. I've never actually met someone who didn't believe they were beautiful, but I heard that those who are like that need a lot of help and support. Thank you very much.

My only issue with this story was that after fluttershy called herself ugly the whole rest of it felt pretty forced.Maybe that's just me though

I can't picture Fluttershy having body shame issues. It doesn't feature.

Fluttershy having body shame doesn't make sense in any context, and even moreso when it's caused by a strict upbringing.

I have to disagree with this. Why would Fluttershy be less susceptible to body shame than any of the others? We know she has self-esteem problems, and that can be closely related to body image issues (with the causality going either way, or both related to another variable). It can also be related to shyness, though it doesn't have to be - I've known a number of gorgeous men and women who thought they were ugly, and while some were quite outgoing others were cripplingly shy (in all cases because of body image, though that may be sampling bias).

As for the strict upbringing as the causal factor, this is totally legit. I've known a couple of people with basically this exact experience. Instilling shame at a young age is frighteningly easy, and wouldn't even require the upbringing factor - my daughter started spouting the "body=bad" nonsense when she picked it up from friends in the first freaking grade, and we had to beat it out of her with a stick (not literally).

And I don't see any conflict between the personal shame and body-positive mentality, either. Emotion and reason don't always see eye-to-eye, and the brain is fabulous at compartmentalizing to reduce cognitive dissonance, so it's quite possible to truly believe that "we should all love our bodies" and still think "but my body is bad." Trust me on that one - even when you know the two ideas are in conflict, it can be frightfully difficult to reconcile.

I also can't see her wanting to do a naturalism shoot of her friends and put it online for millions of perverts to drool over.

Yeah, with you there. Although as was pointed out in a comment on the blog post, the Internet in the EqG world may be a very different place, given that government agents haven't already shown up to lock up and study the magical winged girls on YouTube. Still, I can see Shy wanting to get a body-positive message out there, but in my mind she'd be more likely to try sharing the images through an existing outreach group (and knowing her she probably knows of thousands of them on every topic under the sun) or asking Rarity to work with one of her contacts in print or other media.

MJP

I'm just wondering what the heck is they are doing in the cover pic

Applejack leaned over to whisper to Rarity. "So we ain't gonna remind her that this is for a web site?"

Wait what!?!?!?!??

By the time they broke for lunch, none of the six girls seemed the slightest bit nervous or concerned about their nudity, at least what nudity remained among the glitter-fueled sparklefest. They huddled on the spacious blanket and unwrapped the sandwiches Fluttershy had prepared for each of them, laughing and speaking in light tones. The sun was still high enough in the sky that they didn't feel the need to rush inside, and a cooling breeze made sure they didn't feel at all sweaty or uncomfortable.

That's good, I guess.......🙄

"It is a big deal!" Rainbow Dash stepped forward vigorously. "Who convinced you that you were ugly!? I'll beat them until they can't see straight!"

Violence is never the answer to fix these sort of problems rainbow. :ajbemused:

"Wait, Rainbow Dash." Fluttershy stood up quickly. Rainbow stopped walking, but didn't turn around again. "You don't have to be embarrassed. I'm okay with it if you're into girls... and I'll... I'll think about it, okay?"

Yep, it's a sigh she has a crush on fluttershy. :ajsmug:
