It’s about time I leave a formal comment on this one. Luna Slate IX has given me the perfect opportunity! Here we go!
I fondly remember the art associated with this story (cover art, and the included art in the author’s note). Rightfully so too, as the scene described in the story is picturesque, especially with lines such as:
Time is important as well. Considering the time of year (I’m thinking late December or early January), it’s natural that the Equestria is in a bit of post-holiday sloom. It’s a bit heavy, but at the same time, Rainbow is probably happy that Tank will awake soon:

On the subject of characterization, the ending scene of the discovery from Sweetie’s and Apple Bloom’s perspective as depth to the first. It surfaces what is hidden and read in between the lines of the first, pressing the reader to look deeper! Well done!
Real kicker here. Perhaps Scoot’s Hearth’s warming wishes are now fulfilled, after a bit of waiting!
Lastly, with the thoughtfulness of close friends:

aww, that was just adorable! i think Apple Bloom and Sweetie's discovery of the pair was the scene that really made the fic, since the shift in perspective to a third party really inscribes the bond between Rainbow and Scootaloo by having to show everything through external signs. not to mention the really cute mental image of them agreeing to drape a blanket over the two. thanks for the read!
