Read It Later Reviews #2 A Moment in the Snow, Ice Paved Trees, The Perfect Cure for the Common Cold · 3:30am Jan 2nd, 2016
As you can probably tell, there's a bit of a winter wonderland theme today and since all these authors have chosen to write their stories in the snow caked lands of Equestria, I thought it would be nice to put them all in one blog.
Three different authors, three different stories, three wintry tales of love, friendship and harmony. Enjoy.
A Moment in the Snow by Vertigo-01
Ice Paved Trees by Regidar
The Perfect Cure for the Common Cold by Titanium Dragon
A Moment In the Snow
Slice of Life
2,258 WordsRainbow Dash prepares to read a story to Tank, only to end up reading it to somepony else as well.
I was surprised when I finally got to read one of my editor's stories, it felt like such a weird thing to do but in the end, I was pleased I did. A Moment In the Snow is a short, fuzzy little story that reminds us of how important it is to stay in touch with our inner storytellers and to read to children.
I loved how Rainbow Dash handles the situation, she does so in such a way without breaking character but while also staying true to the heart of the narrative. Which, is not always easy to do.
With a calm, soothing tone and confident writer at the helm it's definitely worth checking out.

Every winter, Applejack heads off into the apple orchard after a heavy snowfall. This year is no different. She can't describe why she does it—to feel the wind chill, to test her endurance, to get some time alone with her thoughts...
All she knows is that she loves the journey.
If you're looking for a short, reflective piece with lots of description about snow, this is it. However, if you want a story with character development and plot, than this isn't that story.
Not to say that Regidar's introspective piece is bad. It just doesn't hit the nail on the head either. I went into Ice Paved Trees expecting some sort of revelation about the character that I hadn't seen before. Some side of her that had remained hidden. But all I found was lots of snow.
I still enjoyed the story I just didn't enjoy finding out there was no reveal at the end or any real reason for the story to exist. But the scenery is certain nice at list and it was worth the journey.

Winter has come early this year, and after a long night out rounding up her animals in the face of Rainbow Dash's "awesome" snowstorm, Fluttershy is oh so cold. But the worst of it is that Rarity knows exactly which pony Fluttershy wishes would come along to warm her up.
Titanium Dragon's short vignette about a wintry day in Ponyville is surely a good one. Originally written for a Write-off competition, this is a fun little story that shows just how darn cute it is when Rainbow Dash takes care of other ponies. Especially when those ponies are her friends.
There is something very heartwarming about keeping warm with the ones you love and the author shows that perfectly. I loved it. I just wish it was a little longer and so it had more time to expand on the interactions between the ponies. But other than that, I couldn't be more glad that I took the time to read it.

Very cool to see one of mine hit the filter. Thank you!
Also enjoyed Ice Paved Trees. I love Slice of Life works like this that genuinely feel like a "slice of life," just a scene out of the ordinary. Quite nice.
Thanks for the review! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'll have to check out the others here.
Well, thank you very much for the review! I'm glad you found it worth it, at least. I really wasn't kidding when I said it was "another pointless snow story". I really like snow; the stories I write about it are generally pointless.
