Pick a card.
Those are the words every pony hears when they enter the booth. They can be in the tent for hours or for days, but no pony has ever left the lair of the Card Master unchanged. After many years of rumors and failed dreams, the greatest hero in Equestria's history has accepted the challenge.

Now, the world stands in awe as the Princess of the Sun visits the Trader's Exchange, and enters the dark grasp of the Card Master's domain.

I like where this is going. Is there going to be another chapter? I would love to see Celestia eventually maybe even facing herself, as Queen of Light. In any case, kudos for the well-written story.
A small criticism, and bear in mind I don't correct grammar or spelling, but plot, I felt that Celestia probably wouldn't have immediately have decided to kill the bandits on the road. If it came down to it, I see her paying them off before she engaged them in combat. It strikes me she is only violent when the situation absolutely calls for it.

Apart from that however, I quite liked the progression of events. Kudos again!

6346076 Thanks, I'm working on the second chapter, which may or not be the end. It depends how long I extend the chapter. Also, I did purposefully plan the violent characterization of Celestia on the bandit encounter, for reasons soon to be revealed. When I get to it. Eventually. Some time soon....

...... I'm lazy.

6350097 Fair enough. Ooh, sounds interesting!

Wow! I love this ending, this whole story is amazing. Kudos!

I'm pretty sure this is based off of a video game: Hand of Fate, with everything from the card system using cards as enemies and equipment to the thematic stuff. Shouldn't this be labeled "crossover?"

6801639 I only heard about the game as I wrote this. I didn't play it or watch much of it. I didn't think loosely inspired would be enough to be considered a full crossing of the two, and I couldn't judge it for myself since I don't know much about the game.

Wow! this story was.... i can't find a word for it!

the drama was believable, there was development for Celestia and Luna, i was interested to see the outcome of each battle and it had an interesting, if trite twist at the end!

i give it a 9/10 on the :yay:itude meter! I'll be watching for your next trick. i wonder what it'll be. :ajsmug:

7631143 shoot, how did I miss those?

6803990 You must've read or watched some very detailed stuff then as this is an almost perfect retelling of the game plot, right down to the card master dialogue.

It's very intriguing but you have a lot of typos scattered through out that a decent spellchecker ought to be able to find. They were quite jarring.

And the cycle continues... a dance between life and death... a game, unlike any other, one that was never truly beaten.
