After a certain scientist assumes explaining the basics of rocket science to the CMC is harmless since three fillies can't possibly build a rocket, the CMC prove her wrong by building one. Then launching it. Will Apple Bloom finally earn her cutie mark? Or is Ponyville in for another disaster?

This was a very enjoyable read, and while it works perfectly fine as a standalone it has the potential to be the start of a great story.

Still....anyone that would underestimate them after this deserves a swift hoof to the skull. That rocket trail was probably visible in Canterlot. That sort of thing is easily visible from a long ways off, and Canterlot isn't exactly that far from Ponyville.

If they had enough time, they probably could have made a custom chair for Scoots that would protect her wings. Maybe something with holes in the back for her wings? A water filled chair could prevent compression of her wings if designed right. Why am I helping them?

6198493 To be fair, her talent isn't specifically flying space ships. It's driving any vehicle above a certain mechanical complexity threshold. In essence, if it's at least as complicated as a 1980's automobile, she can operate it on instinct at a reasonable amount of proficiency.

6396217 Yeah... you need a LOT of highly compressed gunpowder to make a solid rocket motor whcih could even get you suborbital. Though plans for a serious blackpowder fueled moon rocket do exist IRL... but that was drawn up before WWII happened and the Nazi's invited the modern rocket (liquid fuled rockets with turbo pumps that is). Though mathematically, the blackpowder moon rocket would have worked.

Also, suborbital space flight is quite a bit easier than reaching the orbit...

7443376 I have a Masters in Humanities, and minored in creative writing. I've always wanted to be an author as a career. Unfortunately, I cant get a job to support myself while getting that career started. SO I'm unemployed. I have all the time in the world to write, and I use pony fic as my testing ground to see what sorts of things the most people like, because we brony's will read almost anything with ponies in it. That means I can actually expect feedback on a story ^^

There were so much more I would like to quote, and add something to them, but I don't want to leave a massive comment. Been there, done that... never again. Back to the story. Short, fun and altogether great! I was surprised by a few things, which means it was written well. The plot... not so much the words themselves, since those are(generally) different matters. But other than your "unedited" start, it was rather okay with the grammatical errors. Compared to the others, before this one.
