Obligatory Fav and Upvote for a Jaydex story, and I now have some content to read at work tonight. Win / Win!

This looks good, like really good. Just by reading your summary I can tell this is something I can really get behind. I always love sappy romances with adventure elements thrown in, and your stories never fail to deliver the romance. I'll definitely be following this and instead of sleeping like I ought to I'm going to stay reading right now.

well looking for to the rest as it comes out well done

Hmm, this story sounds like it is going to be rather interesting. I think I'm going to hop on this train and see where it is that it shall take me. I look forward to reading more of this as it comes out.

OH! a female royal guard x human story? there must be more of these!:pinkiegasp:

:rainbowderp:...................................... (mind=blown) Not again. *Rainbow goes to the keyboard* Hay Jay, if your reading this, please stop, I can't stand it when you blow my coltfriends mind like that because, who do you think has to clean it up. Twilight sure doesn't, sure she puts him back together but, I'm the one who cleans up the mess. Whoa w-what happened. Oh I just put you back together. Ok, .............hey Jaydex finally put that story out and man was it good. I give it a 8 out of 10. A little slow for me but, Rome wasn't built in a day. I'll keep a eye out for the updates and who knows I mite up my rating on it. Wouldn't that hurt, putting your eye on something? That's it, I'm out. Hey, where are you going? When Pinkie comes into a room......... Oh, he forgot to turn off...........

Yeah, she's gonna get a sword....if you know what I mean.:trollestia:

Quite excellent so far! I'm looking forward to reading more of this.

Before I begin reading this story, which I'm certain will be as excellent as I've imagined, I request you stop doing what it is your currently doing and acknowledge the urgent announcement I have to make regarding my enthusiasm and excitement towards this story

2814753 i see that story xD didnt get around to reading it just yet my biased brain is telling me the human doesnt really fall in love more like the female guards have a playtoy (most likely not even the case at all but its what i get from the discription xD)

"Role-Play" isn't a fetish , it's a way of acting out fetishes , which would be?.......

excellent beginning. Loved every detail and aspect Cant wait to see more

Great story. Cant wait to read more.

Great start, this will be even more interesting then what you were saying. And wow It was an almost instant feature. Lol You lucky man you.

i'm not a smith, let that be clear, but from what i've read in the past it seems that simply putting your half-finished work away will have a negative effect on the quality of the product
as it'll either cool down(which should be kept for when it's finished) or you put it in the coals and it might get too hot while you're doing other stuff.
so i'm rather irked that a (presumably) great smith would simply stop his work like that

as for when he starts making the sword, bright orange? i was under the impression metal was forged into swords while bright yellow:duck:
but hey, maybe the other books i read were wrong, or maybe i misinterpreted them

after looking some stuff up and consulting my father(who was involved with some toolsmithing in his younger days), the colour should at least be bright orange and it may even skirt very light yellow, but halting your work before the product is finished would mean crippled quality(not exactly something a mastersmith would do, and judging from the praise everywhere this "apprentice" probably is one)

/end nitpicking
love this chapter, can't wait to read more:twilightsmile:
if i were to have a custom sword made for me, i'd go for a simple lightly curved blade(though with two cutting edges), no decorations, silver trimmed hilt with a plain black leather grip

I like your story, its just that the smithing and sword description scene kinda irks me a bit because of the gems, silver addons and etc.

But this is a land of ponies and magic so I will try to forget it.

Haven't read a single word yet, I'm favoriting it because I have the utmost faith that it will be great.

;( There's no Wifi at the beach house I'm going to. I won't be able to read this story until I get back D: It's probably awesome though because Jaydex wrote it :D

You magnificant son of a bitch! A great start Jay, I've been waiting and you have to granted my wish! Love it!

I'm not a smith either, but from what I've come to understand from reading articles and seeing TV documentaries (maybe I have it wrong), but it was my understanding that when done by hand and depending on the technique, it can take a matter of days or even months to properly craft a sword. These were references from sword making in Europe and by smiths in Japan. I'm not claiming to be an expert, but I wanted to at least get my readers the feel for what's going on. I did some research on sword making on Wiki and there wasn't much information on duration. And if all else fails, I'll just say, "A wizard did it." :twilightsheepish:

/end response to nitpicking

Now as for your own sword description, are you thinking more on the lines of a katana or a scimitar from what you've shared?

2816440
No worries, it'll still be here waiting for when you return. :raritywink:

2816450
And of course the best is yet to come! :yay:

2815657
The best part is that chapters 2-4 are already written, they just need edited and smoothed over. And I wasn't sure how well it was going to do in all honesty. I did work my heart out on this one. BTW, gratz on all of your success with "Show Stopper"!

2814710
Great announcement! :rainbowlaugh: I hope you enjoy it with as much enthusiasm!

:yay:Its here.:raritystarry:
You were quite gone for a long time.

So chapter 2 and 3 will build up the (get-to-know-each-other--romance-thing)I can somewhat see?:unsuresweetie:

Looking good so far. While clop is all well and... good, I prefer the content of a good story. The clop, ehh, take it or leave it.

Keep this story going love it

well, there were many parts to making a sword, and no weapon was made entirely by one smith in europe, which likely explains the time it took before the weapon was finished(but the actual blade i still think was finished smithing in one setting).
my knowledge of the japanese swordsmithing craft is very basic, which is a shame as their method was complex but high in quality, so i have no idea how they could keep the quality high despite taking that long to make their swords;
working in shifts 24/7 maybe?

and neither really, a scimitar is too clunky and a katana leads to a certain ego :trollestia:
but in general the look would be most like a katana, though with two cutting edges and a different hilt+grip

2816484 That's awesome! Chapters will come quickly then. This'll be fun. And Thank you, I'm proud of it.

Off to a great start, as to be expected of a Jaydex story. Really liking the characterization of Jeanne, this should prove to be another masterpiece in no time.

Just finished reading this chapter, an I thin I can safely say its your best yet! :pinkiehappy:

Jeannedarc

That name. Reminds me of the video game, Jeanne d'Arc, and the real person Joan d'Arc. May read the others first, then this, as I just stumbled upon this.

I am very pleased with this story thus far.
Let's get this ball rolling.:moustache:

Jeannedarc = Joan of Arc?! :pinkiegasp:

Or am I looking into this too deeply? :unsuresweetie:

I like this story so far, it is perhaps your best to date. :)

2818646
You are, but no worries. Jeanne is not the same as Jeanne d'Arc or Joan of Arc. Her creator just felt the name Jeannedarc would be a fitting one for a Royal Guard mare, and I completely agree with him.

2818505

Let's get this ball rolling.:moustache:

You know, I think I'm going to start editing chapter 2 and get it posted before I start work on Luna or Celestia's story. :raritystarry:

2818186 & 2818680
I was hoping it would be good. I've really been trying to improve my writing skills and I've put a lot of care into this story. Jeanne means a lot to me.

2817831
I hope it will be epic in time. I've never had a story flow so smoothly before and Jeanne is turning out to be a really fun pony to write about. :scootangel:

2817777
Well, I think I'll get chapter 2 up shortly, but then I'm going to work on Luna or Celestia's story. Both are waaaaayyy overdue for an update. But at least chapters 3 and 4 of this story will still be ready when the time comes and I was brainstorming more ideas for chapter 5 at work last night. :yay:

2816871
Yep, I'm back! :yay: I never meant to let so much time go by since I last posted anything. :twilightsheepish:

My dear fellow, "good" is an understatement. I have read most (not all) of your stories, and have watched you improve bit by bit and at times in leaps and bounds until arriving at this point. A better word would be brilliant - for it outshines many other lesser works, mine own included. Jeanne is a thoroughly engaging person and the interaction between Galen and herself is well executed.

Bravo and I look forward to reading more of this when you are good and ready to post it.
