This starts out as a comedy, but then transforms into an adventure. It would be slice of life, but the pyramids in Southern Equestria could be on the very edge of the region itself.

Throughout the multiverse, sphinxes are enigmatic beings. Some are merely monsters with inscrutable motives, while others guide entire civilizations towards goals only they understand. No matter the world, a sphinx is a mystery given form, and Equestria is no different.

Of course, some mysteries have more satisfying solutions than others.

The Sphinx catches a stallion trying to enter her lair without permission. He has an offer for her.

Marcus was just a young man who was just going along with his day when he suddenly found himself in the middle of the desert. As he traveled to find a way to survive, he is discovered by a sphinx who decides to challenge him to a game of riddles. If Marcus wins, than she will allow him to leave unharmed. But if the sphinx wins, then she may do whatever she pleases with him.

The southernmost reaches of the world are quartered off by a grand desert. It wasn't always like this.

After the defeat of Pony of Shadows, Somnambula returned to her old village. She doesn't quite feel at home in this new world where she feels out of place and where almost nothing is familiar to her.

Turns out that the sphinx hasn't changed much either, and can really hold a grudge.

Princess Celestia wants Princess Cadence to go on a diplomatic mission to Somnambula, a small desert town outside of Equestria’s borders. After she arrives, she somehow manages to get herself kidnapped again. This time, by a really big kitty who calls herself “The Sphinx.”

"Why am I always the one who gets kidnapped?"

Knowing her time is limited, the Sphinx summons the one person she can trust; Somnambula. She entrusts her secrets and power to her in the hope it will put her at peace.

Daring Do had of course heard of the Curse of the Sphinx, but if her adventures had taught her one thing, curses do not exist.

She might change her mind.

This story is a sequel to Flurry Heart's Story: Dream of Alicornication

Flurry and her friends get a chance to vacation in Southern Equestria with Spike, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, and Mrs. Cake. After meeting Somnambula, they are immediately thrown into adventure and peril when she finds a map that leads them to a cave in the desert mountains. Inside is an ancient temple where Somnambula is to meet an "old friend" as the map describes. What they don't know is this temple is booby-trapped and this mysterious correspondent is not here to be Somnambula's friend at all...

Inspired by the official show, this is part of a fan-made sequel series I created called "Flurry Heart's Story", which documents the adventures of Flurry Heart as she makes friends and faces new and familiar villains, some of which may still be redeemable.
