Spike is bored. Twilight has gone off on another world saving adventure with her friends, leaving him alone at the Golden Oaks Library without much to do. Well, not completely alone, but an owl is hardly riveting company. After some digging, he uncovers an old board game in the dusty corner of the library: Ogres and Oubliettes!

With nopony else to play with, Spike decides to embark on an epic journey with his lukewarm pal into the fantastical world of rules and dice rolls!

Okay maybe that part's not so grand, but still!

This is an alternate telling of the episode "Owl's Well That Ends Well". As much as I love MLP: Friendship Is Magic, we all know that the show is far from perfect. There are many things in the show that I think could have been handled better, and this episode is one of them. We all know what happened. Twilight hired Owlowiscious as a "junior assistant", Spike got jealous, there was a fake mouse covered in ketchup, and the rest is history.

This fanfic is my attempt to write a better version of this episode. For example, I wanted to make Spike much more sympathetic so he doesn't come across as the villain of the episode. I also wanted to emphasize Twilight's mistakes, and for her to actually try to make up for them, because I personally thought the conflict in this episode was just as much her fault as it was Spike's.

However, I mean no disrespect to the people responsible for the show, nor do I claim ownership of My Little Pony. This fanfic is purely for fun, and is simply my opinion.
