A little story I used to put my headcanon about how time works between the main series and the Equestria Girls sub-series. It's a discussion of why Sunset is so young despite being older than Princess Twilight, as well as why timeliness don't always match up between the two.

Twilight Sparkle is comfortable living her lonely life of academia, but when a peculiar girl with messy pink hair begins stalking her, she may have to face the thing that terrifies her most.

Ever since she was a filly, Nightmare Night has been Sunset Shimmer's favorite holiday. After all, who doesn't love dressing up and getting free candy?

When Twilight reveals that she's never gone trick-or-treating, Sunset decides that she needs to prove once and for all how absolutely amazing the holiday can be—even if it means she has to drag Twilight along kicking and screaming.

At recess, Timmy learns from his best alien friend, Mark Chang, that a rogue element of the Yugopatamian army wants to destroy the planet.

That wouldn't be an issue...were Cosmo and Wanda's wands not undergoing a tune up.

But thankfully, Timmy Turner has another ace up his sleeve: something pink, bubbly, and very, very annoying.

Normally, someone would balk at being sent to fight a hostile alien race. But Pinkie isn't scared. She loves making new friends.

Rather than throwing her own New Year's party, Pinkie Pie decides to attend one already being thrown. She goes with all of her friends, only to discover that one of her old friends is hosting it.

And he seems to be coming onto Pinkie...

This story is a sequel to Check Mates

Three weeks into their road trip, Sunset and Pinkie Pie enjoy a day at the massive Infinity Mall. While waiting for the show to start; the pair indulge in food, shopping and an impromptu dance off at the arcade.

On the surface, Aria Blaze and Pinkie Pie seem total opposites and an odd pair. But looking closer, you can see the similarities. And each of the Pie sisters have had their input on the relationship as well.
