A rip in space has opened in the skies above the Everfree, and something powerful has fallen through. The entire forest has been petrified by unknown magic, and the entity responsible—only seen by a few—now appears to be hiding within its garden of dead trees and monstrous statues.

With the town of Ponyville put on lockdown, and concerns of an escaped prisoner from Tartarus worrying the surrounding lands, the Elements of Harmony now rally with the Pillars of Equestria to locate and quell these threats. Little do they know they are not the only ones scouring the woods for the source of this deadly, foreign magic.

Faced with certain peril, the heroes of Equestria must save their land by stopping a match made in Tartarus: the villain, Tirek, who seeks to drain all Equestria of magic, and this avian threat, which holds the power to drain life from anything organic.

After the element bearers managed to free the Pillars from limbo, all they had to do now was find Stygian, and all would be right. The problem is that they do not know where their former friend was hiding or if he was alive. Starswirl hadn’t seen his former friend since he banished the other Pillars, so with nothing to go on, the element bearers and the Pillars ventured into the far reaches of Equestria, hoping to help their friend.

The adventures in the Bermikun Triangle got behind Star and Dusk’s backs weeks ago, but it would appear they and their family won’t be able to get some peace as the Lord of Chaos prepares himself to execute his latest plan to take over the Pony Reality, a plan that includes the use of a not so newly known dark magic and an ancient enemy. With Twilight and her friends out of commission, it will be up to Star to deal with this emergency by going on a quest to find the only thing that can save the world: the Elements of Virtue. With them spread across the Pony World and possibly even beyond, Star will have to count with the help from his friends in order to fight this new threat before times runs out.

Note: the main focus of this story is based on Season 7’s series finale of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic titled “Shadow Play”. However, it also contains elements of Season 6’s finale “To Where and Back Again”, as well as elements from other series like Elena of Avalor and Tangled

When Twilight and her friends bring the six pillars back after hearing the return of the Pony of Shadows, it’s up to them to work together and stop this threat. But can they keep Thomas safe as well?

It was a question. A simple question. One not yet recognized for its importance as all great discoveries tend to start.

Before the Discourse Era, around the period of Unification and Equestria's founding, before the reign of the Royal Sisters and during the rule of Platinum's bloodline, ponies had limited exposure to many species of Terrae. Many factors contributed to this: The Three Tribes themselves were still working out their differences
and as a prey species ponies had an instinct in the herd to avoid straying far from the rest-- at best the interactions most known before Discord were with the Dragons, Griffons, Bison, and Saddle Arabians. All creatures that shared the same proximity with the Equestrians and so ultimately wasn't much of a stretch in terms of exposure, and more of a inevitable result of acquiring new land.

Say what you will but Discord's appearance in the world itself would mark not just a change for the world but an introduction to various species unknown that would start a future beginning for the Royal Sisters.

Star Swirl, a pony whose name appears randomly throughout multiple centuries, was the only pony to ask the one question no one wanted to ask years following Discord's defeat and it was a simple question: "Where were all the draconequui?"

There was no answer to this question. No one had wanted an answer. And there was no easy way to have it solved during that time.

And so, he set out to find one. And find one he did...a few centuries later.

An entry in the Chaosverse

The world is safe. The monsters are all gone or locked away or reformed, and a new generation of heroes has emerged to carry the torch. Finally, after years of service the Pillars of Old Equestria can at last relax and enjoy normal lives.

Time to enjoy the small pleasures of life like owning a home. Taking up hobbies. Starting a family.

As it turns out, that last option will open a door which cannot be closed that will cast everything they thought they knew about themselves in a harsh new light.
