Sunset Shimmer is a genius. Sunset Shimmer is also a complete idiot when it comes to love. Rarity has learned this the hard way. Feeling down, she has Applejack meet her at the park so she can talk and vent.

This story shares continuity with the Recovery Arc, but is a non-canon side-story.

On her summer break, Sunset Shimmer returns to Equestria for a time. While there, she goes to introduce Princess Twilight Sparkle to her new coltfriend.

The Princess does not like Sunset's choice in partners and an argument erupts.

On her first day at Canterlot High, the Twilight Sparkle of the human world learns that it wasn't just her new friends who mistook her for her royal Equestrian counterpart. Realizing that what had seemed like a harmless brush-off to her may have in fact broken the heart of nice-guy Flash Sentry, Twilight becomes determined to make it up to him. What better way to do that than to set him up on a date with the girl of his dreams-or at least, a close proximity to her?

It's a crazy plan to be sure, but it just might be crazy enough to work. Best of all, it's completely risk free. After all, there's no way either of them could develop feelings for each other, right?

The Friendship Games are over, magic in the human world is once again under control (sort of), and Sunset Shimmer is looking forward to a nice, relaxing celebration with all her friends, both old and new.

Too bad she ends up stuck on repeat; living the same night over and over with no idea why and even less idea how to make it stop.

Forced to watch her closest friends live out the same mistakes again and again, Sunset must find a way to break the cycle before she herself breaks down... but is the solution as simple as it first appears, or is the wild Equestrian magic stirring in her soul a sign of something more?

Deprived of her magic, stuck in unfamiliar surroundings and with no clear plan, things look bleak for Sunset and her self-imposed exile. But it seems as though she will not spend her first day in this strange place alone.

Sunset Shimmer has resigned herself to spending the night of her senior prom alone at home, and even the well-intentioned prodding of her six best friends won’t change her mind. But when a certain Flash Sentry appears at her door, Sunset must reevaluate her reasons for abstaining from the event and figure out what to do about a half-forgotten promise.
