Fluttershy was lonely, living in a small house on the edge of Canterlot, and being somewhat reclusive had such an effect. So she decided to find herself a roommate, placing an ad in the paper. To her surprise, it would be answered almost immediately by young Twilight, a witch in training at the academy.

Twilight Sparkle is nothing if not a perfectionist; no matter what she does, she'll do it to the best of her abilities. When it comes to her relationship with Fluttershy, she'll settle for nothing less than the best. She has something important that she needs to tell her, and it needs to be said at precisely the right time. Because that's the sort of pony she is. It's just that ... it has to be at EXACTLY the right time with no margin for error.

After hours of careful research keeps leading to dead-ends, Twilight finds she can't sleep. To try and clear her head, she decides to go for a midnight stroll. A chance encounter with a friend helps her realize the answer to her problem... and leads to something she never expected.

Sadly it backfires as Sunset walks right into one of the signs of the end times, Fluttershy yelling at Rainbow Dash. To avoid anymore conflict, the two decide that maybe it would be best to get a new start and transfer to Crystal Prep. How ill they respond to Cinch's attitude, the atmosphere of the school and the Shadowbolts, and...the mirror version of the girl she hates more than anything. Can Sunset swallow her pride and work to make things better again or will it just end up being CHS all over again?

This is the CHS timeline of arc 2 of The Sun and the Shy.

Sunset is busy dealing with her feelings for Fluttershy and disturbing dreams that are getting worse the closer it gets to when the portal opens. She must find a way to deal with the truth behind her dreams or end up losing the one girl who may actually have a chance of making her happy and restoring her shattered mind and soul.

Sunset Shimmer invites Fluttershy over to her place in order to study together for their test tomorrow. Everything is going great, until Sunset catches Fluttershy off guard with a random question about crushes.

Was this just a study date? Or did Sunset have something more... personal in mind?
