Twilight Sparkle has been going to Canterlot High for a while now, and her first Halloween with friends is almost upon her. At the request of Pinkie Pie, the girls agree to have a fun night of Trick-or-Treating, candy, and lots of scares! But there's something Twilight wants more than all the costumes and candy in the world, and her name is Sunset Shimmer. She just has to work up the courage to talk to her!

Twilight had decided to share her deepest fear with Sunset after several failed attempts at the counter spell; she feels very stressed and is afraid of letting everybody down. Twilight's honesty and trust in Sunset has in turn caused her to be open with Twilight as well, revealing several insecurities of her past. These revelations cause Twilight and Sunset to become closer than before. Twilight regains her confidence, and Sunset feels more accepted.

This story is a sequel to Into the Sunset

Time and again, the human Twilight Sparkle has expressed the desire for her and her wife Sunset Shimmer to have children, but Sunset has constantly voiced unease with the idea. When Twilight finally learns why, she takes matters into her own hands and volunteers herself and Sunset to babysit their niece Flurry Heart for one evening. However, a complication arises.

The Friendship Games are over, and the new Twilight has officially joined the group. Sunset and her friends have helped to make Twilight's transition to CHS smoother: Inviting her to band practices, arranging for her to have a lab just like at her old school, and teaching her about the foreign concept of friendship.

Lately, Twilight has been asking Sunset for assistance with some of her experiments. Sunset is more than happy to oblige her new friend, but starts to notice Twilight paying more attention to her than anyone else in their circle.

Were these just experiments… or were they for something else entirely?
