[Set in a dark alternate universe where Rainbow never met Scootaloo]

Rainbow Dash has a secret, a secret she had been keeping since she first started at flight camp. Now, that secret has come back to haunt her in the form of a broken and bloody orange filly, a filly she abandoned almost eight years ago. Now she is trying everything in her power to correct that mistake and be the mother Scootaloo was meant to have, but can she ever get her daughter to see her as anything but the monster who abandoned her.

You know, sometimes...I find myself not the greatest friend. But for some reason, they still don't mind me. They still consider me a good friend and I never understand why? The best I can do, is be a burden, but then again...if they ever need me...if they ever fall off a cliff...or somewhere far down, I'll be there in a second to catch them.

I'll shoulder their pain. I'll carry their burden. I'll catch them because it is not just me...

Because I'm their friend.

The story is something I worked on. It was short and done in ten minutes. I feel like any person can connect with this story if they too felt like they were not a great friend to those that still loves them, but will give their very life to see them safe. (Note: I put the dark tag to emphasize on the dark aspect through Rainbow's Perspective, before the light aspect takes over. A style I am practicing with on my experiment through first person.)

Rainbow Dash is awesome. Of that there is no doubt, but even awesome ponies need a break every once in a while. As a weather pegasus and the Element of Loyalty, she doesn't really get all too many days off to just kick back. So, when she finally gets time off to go to the beach with her friends, she takes it.
Too bad the local lighthouse pegasus called in sick, forcing the local weather crew to 'recruit' Rainbow for the task of manning the lighthouse. Boring work.
VERY Boring work.
Until a ship appears on the horizon that looks like it's going to wreck on the rocks.

Rainbow Dash the Cyan Pegasus that is 20% cooler than most ponies goes and tries her hoof at a new trick and gets trapped in Ghastly Gorge. How will she get out? Will she get out? Or will she die? Read to find out! Based on the story by Aron Ralston "127 Hours" and also I got the idea from the episode "May the Best Pet Win!"

The Pegasus that once lived inside me is dead. This book changed my life. Now I'm its slave to change the world.

Rainbow Dash is feeling like a total loser. The town has forgotten about her, her biggest fan is into this new hero, and her friends are laughing at her pain. But instead of confronting this Mare Do Well at her parade, Dash decides to just go and sulk at home before heading off to bed.

Sure she’s feeling down and abandoned, but that’s no big deal. It’s not like there’s some kind of creature in Equestria that can feed off a pony's pain and loneliness to turn them into monsters, right?

Hopes. Dreams. Aspirations. They're what everyone survives, and even thrives, on. What happens, then, when hopes and dreams are dashed? "It was like a shadow. A blur, a memory of a dark-pelted pony with a cyan mane, zooming past so swiftly that Angel wondered whether he'd actually seen it. But he had, because Rainbow Dash had seen it out of the corner of her eye, and inclined her head slightly to catch a clearer glimpse. As she did so, Angel did too. The dark pony turned back and stared with crystal eyes, that seemed to paralyse Rainbow Dash. And then, the shadow pony was gone."

An unexpected turn of events sends Rainbow Dash into the darkest depths of Everfree forest with an animal she barely likes and no wings to fly to safety. The mane six have been concentrating on a decoy, little do they know that in an innocent Ponyville, disaster strikes in the form of a demonic mare who wants revenge. All kinds of unicorn magic are rendered useless, but with the mane six split up, and when the skies are dark Rainbow Dash thinks she can't call on the only magic that can save Ponyville; the magic of friendship.

As Equestria pluments into turmoil and the great and powerful Princess Celestia is assassinated, her sister Luna takes power and forms the radical U.N.L.R.(United National Lunar Republic), the young pony Rainbow Dash discovers that her life is a mirage of memories that have been repressed in her head for years. Questions she never really thought of or asked herself get answered and she discovers who she really is, or better yet what she is. What she finds out about herself however will change her life forever. Meanwhile a secret rebellion known as the Enlightenment, is planning to overthrow Luna's rule. The mysterious leader of this rebellion offers Rainbow Dash an opportunity to teach her to control the very thing she is. The Juggernaut.

What is the Juggernaut? How is Rainbow Dash involved with The Enlightenment? Who can she trust and who does she betray or better yet who betrays her? Follow Rainbow Dash as she is plunged into an unexpected adventure that will put her loyalty to the ultimate test, but what exactly does it mean to be loyal?
