A fan of ponies since the premiere of the 2nd season, a fan of TMNT for most of my life, and a writer with probably way too many ideas and not enough time to write them all down.
After a snide comment from Diamond, Apple Bloom learns the truth of what it means to be beautiful from confiding in Applejack

The name's Applejack. Canterlot, the capital of our kingdom was beset by a plague of changelings durin' a weddin'. Had it not been for Cadence and Shining sendin' them packin', we might all be changelings by now. Not long after, Princess Celestia ordered a stallion from every house to enlist for the counterattack against them. He served his kingdom, as did countless other colts, and he came back without a scratch on him. Or, so Ah thought...
Sometimes there are moments in life that seem inconsequential, yet hold more significance than some can comprehend.
Big Mac knows this all too well.
Granny Smith has passed away.
Big Mac is angry.
Apple Bloom is acting out.
And for the first time in her life, AJ is uncertain.

So, lets say IF nopony in Equestria celebrates much of a "Thanksgiving", other than the Apples (and their relatives Oranges)... A very special, important, valuable (oh they're all the same thing) day, where the family gathers around to celebrate the history that had them on this very Sweet Apple Acres. Aka, the Apple Fest.
Applejack, after a day of preparing for the feast coming up, goes to have a simple chat with Big Mac. Just turns out to be more than that...
Granny Smith recovers from a bout of pneumonia, and the Apple family realizes that if they keep their secrets much longer, they might never get a chance to open up to her. Applejack, Big Macintosh, Apple Bloom and Braeburn visit her at the hospital and tell her things they've kept hidden for far too long.
How does she take it? Not how you'd expect.
AN: Written for One-Shotober.
After the utter travesty wrought upon fashion from Applejack's last efforts, Rarity has taken it upon herself to ensure such a thing never happens again. The problem is, Applejack didn't know anything about dressmaking to begin with, and she isn't too interested in learning now.
In the popular box for 36hr. February seventh through ninth.

Thank's Scootareader for the long description.
Applejack tells Fluttershy about the great oak tree atop a hill on the farm. It was the first one she ever planted, y'see. That doesn't have anything to do with why Granny Smith is in the hospital, and why Applejack isn't there.
Nope. Not at all.

A call for help from Cherry Jubilee brings Applejack back to a very different Dodge Junction. Its residents are fearful, a gang of kleptomaniacs has the full run, trolls are on the loose, and the sheriff's in a criminal's pocket.
Besides Big Macintosh, the only pony on Applejack's side is the most accident-prone being in Equestria. If the schemes of a psychotic but dainty griffon don't ruin things, Clutterstep just might. Applejack reckons they've got as much chance as a seed in a storm, but an Apple always honors her friends. It's a race to finish the harvest and save Cherry Hill Ranch while making it out alive back to Ponyville.
It's Mother's day in Equestria and everypony is celebrating except for some members of the Apple Family. All they remember is the day their mother passed away. With nopony to celebrate the day for how will they get through?
