This story is a sequel to Uncongenealogy

Having finally regained her memories of Apple Bloom's true origins, Luna decided that, in the interest of all of Equestria, action had to immediately be taken to prevent the potentially catastrophic consequences of the filly's secret nature.

So she called the six bearers of the Elements of Harmony, along with her daughter, to Canterlot, so that they could rid the filly of the dark magical essence within her.

It did not go well. Not in the least.

What happens when you throw a Roaming Princess, space exploring Pegasus, country equa-lion, meek vampire, and a haughty seapony into a modern waitress’s home with no explanation?

Confusion, destruction, and friendship as they try to find a way home. Followed closely by secret societies, forbidden magic, and a heaping of destiny as they battle to save their friends from a dark cult and rescue the world in the process.

When Starlight Glimmer cast her spell and shattered the bonds connecting the Elements of Harmony, she inadvertently created a cosmic crack that would have further reaching consequences than she could ever imagine. The consequences of her actions rippled across time and space, shattering the very destiny of existence itself. The only thin string holding the universe together now is Twilight Sparkle, the representative of the Element of Magic and the Princess of Friendship. But with destiny already defied, how can she hope to pick up the pieces of a broken reality?
Well, starting with helping her other self might help.

Years before a certain prophesy would come to fruition, a young pegasus filly fell from the sky near Las Pegasus, only to be rescued and taken in by Burning Sky and Dragonfly, a newlywed pegasi couple on leave from the Equestrian Air Guard for their honeymoon. Adopted and named Firefly by the very ponies who caught her out of the sky, the young filly is secretly a being from another reality, a former human who had been a fan of a popular show that had portrayed this very world (or one very similar to it), with no idea what had brought her here, why she was now a pony, or even when in the timeline she happens to be.

Once she figures out that she's in the past, with years before Princess Luna returned as Nightmare Moon, young Firefly resolves to simply stay out of the way and let events happen as they should. However, once she sees Princess Twilight Sparkle and Spike the Brave and Glorious appear out of a bubble of complex looking magic, Firefly feels an incredible sense of liberation, believing that it no longer matters what she does or doesn't do as everything would correct itself once Twilight dealt with Starlight Glimmer and returned to the future.

So Firefly decides to buck Starlight Glimmer on the way down to save Fluttershy.

After all, if nothing she did right now mattered anyway, why not be the hero? What harm could it possibly do?

And thus my SI takes a sledgehammer to causality, breaking Starlight Glimmer's spell in the worst way possible for two mares and a dragon from the future and changing the course of history forever.

But hey, at least Fluttershy is okay, right?

Episode 1: Mare in the Moon

When the extreme party pony accidentally comes across the legend of Nightmare Moon, she is tasked with overseeing the preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration--and the making of new friends. Taking offense to their ways of friendship, Dawn strives to speed up the overseeing to get in a nap before the return of Nightmare Moon.

Episode 2: Elements of Harmony

Dawn is on a mission to save Equestria from eternal night, but as she heads to the library to find more information, she is joined by the five mares she came across the previous day. Stuck with traveling with the completely different mares, Dawn realizes that everypony has their own strengths, and that those are what count in a pony.

The Vigilant Owl: an underground network of specialists, who work in secret to protect the ponies of Equestria from harm. Spread throughout the continent, they use their unique gifts and talents to ensure that the populace can continue to live happily, ignorant of the horrors that lurk just out of sight.

Their newest member: Lyra Heartstrings, Truthseeker.

After a night of accidental debauchery that she cannot seem to remember, sophomore student at Canterlot Community College Fluttershy wakes up to find a strange woman named 'Eris' standing at her door! The strange woman claims that she's going to be Fluttershy's new live-in maid of all things! But Eris is far more than just a strange, seven-foot-tall woman in a French maid outfit... she's the human world's nascent spirit of chaos! And whoever heard of a spirit of chaos washing clothes and dusting shelves?!

Not to mention Eris's sudden reappearance has stirred up other ancient magical beings from their slumber, including the savage Queen Umbra, the enigmatic Chrysalis, and the Paladin-Goddesses Selene and Amaterasu.

But as crazy as the situation may be, perhaps things will work out for the best? Fluttershy's been incredibly lonely ever since the rest of her friends from Canterlot High went off to other colleges. And underneath all her bluster, maybe... just maybe... all Eris needs is a friend to convince her she isn't alone anymore.

...or maybe Fluttershy's cottage will be washed away in a tsunami of caramel-flavored cottage cheese.

...Yeah, that sounds about right.

(Author's Notes: Crossover between Equestria Girls and Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid because I'm apparently a hot pile of otaku garbage. The first few chapters may closely resemble some episodes of the anime, but it will diverge from there. This takes place in the near future of an alternate EqG universe because I've only seen the first Equestria Girls and don't really care enough to watch the others. Also because I'm not gonna write them with "Doug" skin colors. They've still got the multicolored hair, but they have human skin. Because I said so, that's why.)

Everypony enjoys myths and ponytales, even if they know such things aren't real. Alicorns fighting against a spirit of chaos? An ancient princess trapped in a library under a tree, waiting to be found? Quite enchanting and fantastic tales yes, but nonetheless as fictional as Daring Do and other such stories. At least, that's what Rarity used to think.

Sweetie Belle has a secret. One that she's been hiding for... well, she doesn't know how long, and is looking for answers to.

So what happens when three not-ponies find out their friends aren't ponies either?

Well, one thing's for certain: they're going to have to come up with a new name for their club. Hopefully one better than the title.
