Play Bitz is enjoying his day off relaxing in the skies trying a new flying technique. Siren Bliss is going about her normal day, working at her music shop. When the flying technique goes wrong, Siren Bliss sees that Play Bitz is in trouble and helps the pegasus come to, in just enough time to crash land safely. The seemingly opposite ponies end up befriending one another and see just how truly similar they really are. A story of friendship and the possibilities of finding your special somepony, even when you weren't looking.

Prequel to The Witching Hour

1500 years ago, a kirin named Storm Vine was the unofficial leader of the kirins. Along with her husband Tempest Flame and most of the others, she fought to protect Equestria from any dangers that arose as knights of the realm. When she wasn't doing that, she was spending time with her adopted daughter and friends, which included the archmages of the Sun and Moon, her elder brother, and a delightful, if somewhat eccentric, trickster.

But, this is not the story of her daily life or her exploits as a knight. This is the story of how it all ended. How one of their closest friends turned against them. How they fought against and eventually defeated him. And how his fall brought them down with him.

This is the story of how the kirins disappeared from Equestria.

After guardsponies Storm Stunner, Crack Shot, and Check Mate proved instrumental in stopping an interdimensional incident that threatened to annoy the city of Canterlot, the Royal Guard made a realization: perhaps they might just be able to serve functions beyond pulling aerial chariots and trying not to blink in public.

Now months later, they're finally starting to get somewhere with each of the odd regimens they've designed; it's a shame that three of their number will have to miss the progress to follow. In recognition of their prior bravery, quick thinking, (and to a smaller degree their dumb luck), Princess Luna has given Storm, Check, and Crack Shot a special assignment: to visit the lands on the borders of pony control, to sample the local flavors, and to maybe even take a picture or two. One might dare to call it a vacation.

However, expectations mean little so far from home, and despite Luna's wishes to keep the guardsponies out of harm's way, the world can easily change in a thousand years. The three guardsponies may be forced to deal with the inconvenience of their vacation turning into an adventure.

First Story: In Her Majesty's Royal Service

Comet takes his job too seriously. Angel doesn't take anything seriously.

Comet joined to protect kingdom and princess(es). Angel joined for adventure and danger.

Comet isn't interested in mares. Angel can't stop talking about stallions.

Comet is a pegasus. Angel is a bat pony.

Together, this unlikely duo goes through life as Royal Guards from basic training to fully fledged guardsponies. Who knows? Maybe they'll even start to get along.

One is a former host club employee down on his luck, taking any odd job to get back the money he once had.

One is a former royal guard out of her element, having been forced into early retirement for her violent tendencies.

One is a former letter carrier, whose claims of narcolepsy are jotted down as her simply being unbelievably lazy.

One is a narrator, trying to make some sense out of their antics and build a comprehensible story.

Together they intend to get rich: it all goes downhill from there.

Rainbow Blitz has everything a young stallion looking to make their mark on the world could want; a renowned and well-off family, connections and the drive to push himself beyond everypony else.

But he still feels like he's missing out on something. Something's he's dreamt of since he was a foal.

More than anything, Rainbow Blitz wants to be part of a joust. There's one small problem though, he's a Pegasus and only Earth ponies are allowed to compete. Despite this seemingly insurmountable restriction, he remains hopeful that one day he’ll compete in front of the crowds at one of Equestria's grand tournaments. Maybe if he’s lucky he’ll find himself at the birthplace of jousting; the fields of Prance.

Maybe a little luck is all he needs.

Claire and Illusion have a bond that cannot be shaken, they have shared in each others happiness and shouldered one another during times of great grief. They have encountered many challenges during their time together, and together they faced them head on. And now life has chosen to throw them their greatest challenge yet, but are they truly prepared for the trials they will face?

They don't know, but they will brave the challenge, together.
