After being sent by Celestia to investigate Starswirl's old lab and study, Twilight finds a book and many mirrors in front of her. After reading the book she discovers that the mirrors lead to other dimensions. But why is one of them broken?

Twilight is an academician, and the renown student of Princess Celestia.
After a diplomatic visit to the Arabian University of Magic on the behalf of her mentor, she's ready to enjoy the trip back to Equestria on one of the most luxurious steamers crossing the seas, whereas a certain Princess of the Night is hitching a ride onboard, looking for a dangerous and dark-magic inclined artifact.
When those two meet, things start falling apart.

Ponyville is a small, charming beach town on Equestria's coast, but it has a tragic history for Rarity. Despite this, she moves with her family to Ponyville to start her fashion business. While she begins to adjust to her new life she still does not believe the "Legend of the Mermare" that visits the Ponyville beaches and docks. Giving trinkets and gifts from the sea in exchange for a book. Especially if everypony in town, even her sister Sweetie Belle, seem to believe it.

So, when she goes one sunny afternoon to relax and read a book by the sea she very quickly realizes that the legend is not only very true but the mermare intrigues her like no pony has ever before.

Luna has always been the mistress of Dreams. That much survived the long years of her absence. No pony, perhaps no being on Earth is as knowledgeable as the world beyond the material as Luna is...

And so when she becomes lost in the aether, who would know better than she how to free her? That's Twilight's answer, anyway, and so she gathers a team together to rescue the Princess of the Night.

Luna is sent, along with young Twilight, to old Neighpon to try and quell the feuding warlords with diplomacy. And, if that fails, reduce the bloodshed as much as possible. Turns out that Luna is the kind of mare that likes to jokingly flirt and see how far she can go to make the other uncomfortable.
Boy is she in for a surprise.

So the inspiration for a lot of aesthetic and naming is primarily Japanese, however I'm taking from all of the orient and I'm being fairly loose with the accuracy. Translations and terminology won't be exact, don't expect a historical rendition of feudal japan in pony form here fellas.
Will update tags if more of them become relevant.

Love is felt in many different ways. Twilight loves her friends as friends; she would put her life on the line for any of them at the drop of a hat, and often does. She loves her family, and would go to whatever length needed to protect them and, if needed, help them in any way. She has loved as a lover, felt the tug of her heart for another pony, and the wish to always be in their embrace, never missing their body or voice. She has always kept these feelings separate.

When her dear friend, and undoubtedly family member Princess Celestia suffers an injury, she asks Twilight for help, and of course, Twilight is more than willing to assist in any way she can... at least, that's what she wants to tell herself. When the task at hoof requires loving a friend as a lover, things can get a little complicated.

Twilight Sparkle was Celestia's personal prodigy. Her smile could lift the Princess's heart and free her mind of all worries. But the day that Twilight sends her last letter is the day Celestia realizes she genuinely loves Twilight Sparkle. "And now, she can never express her love." Or...Can she? Using a black magic spell she brings back Twilight...Or tries to anyway She messes up the words and isn't sure of exactly what was going too happen at this point.

Princess twilight and Princess Celestia make tempest twilights personal guard but tempest thinks she is helpless and pathetic and that princess twilight is doing this out the of petty of her broken horn so she vowed to make herself worthy of the title but what tempest doesn’t know is that there’s a surprise awaiting her.
