Mort, also known as the Pale Pony (of Death), has been tasked to take time off from his rigorous duties of reaping souls. Seeking guidance, he is directed towards the town of Ponyville, to learn about the magic of friendship from Twilight Sparkle and her friends. All he needs to do is keep his true nature a secret. That shouldn't be too difficult...right?

On a day like any other, Rainbow Dash asks Fluttershy to accompany her as she heads out of town for a little while. She doesn't tell her where they are going or how long they will be gone, but says that it's a surprise. Not wanting to turn down one of her best friends, Fluttershy agrees to go with Rainbow Dash. However, something lingers in the back of the yellow Pegasus' mind as they leave: Where exactly are they going and what does Rainbow Dash have in mind when they get there?

"Dinky's a lucky kid. I mean--think about it: how many ponies get *me* for a godmom? Yeah, that's right, one. (Well, okay, two, but Dinky was first.) It's a great gig and basically it just means I get to hang out with Dinky and be my usual awesome self ... Right?"

When Twilight was young, she used to sit on the balcony and look down at the statues in the royal garden. At the strange creatures of fur and armour and feathers and horns, and just...wonder on them.
And out of all of them, out of the unique draconequus and the rare Cyclops and the terrifying Invention Monkey, one particular statue always caught her eye.
Four...blocky, for lack of a better word, knights. Frozen in perfect formation, their heads hidden deep within the confines of their helmets. Each one stuck in the same pose, for as long as she'd known them.
And beneath them, engraved into the stone they were a part of, was a simple message.
"Wake us when something fun happens or Celestia stops being a bitch, whichever comes first."

Bon Bon's voice is funny, and that's about all that anypony who meets her notices, as her marefriend Lyra soon steals the spotlight with her explosive personality, strange obsessions, and curious beliefs. And why not? Bon Bon is, after all, a perfectly ordinary, boring pony in every way but two: her voice, and the carefully kept secret that she isn't really a pony.
