"They" are the shadowy figures lurking just beyond the corners of your eyes, pulling the strings of reality and shaping it to better suit their intentions. They are the celestial bureaucracy, ensuring that everything works together orderly, smoothly, and harmoniously. And, in order to do that, They sometimes have to change a few things.

Rainbow Dash is one of Their victims, but she's learned how to fight back. Now she must trace Them down to Their own world before she forgets who she truly is, or is cast into a bleak oblivion from which there is no return.

An authorized continuation of Them by Chaotic Dreams. A special thanks to him for continuing to consult and advise as well.

Warning! Contains heavy doses of Gnosticism, Buddhism, and Hindu mysticism! Consult your doctor before use. :pinkiehappy:

The universe is a fickle place. Chaotic when it wants to be, and ordered when it needs to be. For two extraordinarily unlucky yet infinitely fortunate individuals, one morning found them unceremoniously comprised of every probabilistic particle in the cosmos ... for 0.0073 nanoseconds.

Devon hadn't exactly been the most level headed to begin with, and waking up in a foreign city in the dead of winter with no recollection of how he got there wasn't doing him any favors. If that wasn't enough, he's also stuck with Alek, a disembodied voice that only he can hear. Can the pair manage to work together long enough in order to uncover what happened to them, or are they already a lost cause?

It sure would be a lot easier without hooves too...

[Optimalverse] Mark was having a rather bad day before he emigrated to Equestria but the promised digital heaven never materialised. Instead he found himself in an deserted Canterlot with just two other freshly minted ponies for company and nothing but mysteries to solve. What happened to everypony else? What's wrong with CelestAI? And how will they survive each other for all eternity?

Three ponies. On a one way trip to infinity. Only the gods will be watching.

I would like to extend my thanks to Luna-tic Scientist for his help pre-reading.

The immortal, artificial intelligence known as CelestAI tries to convince a dying human to upload into Equestria, even though he hates her.

Based off Friendship is Optimal.

Upload into Equestria Online and live forever, they say. But forever is a long, long, long time, and in its endless cycles, is choosing death instead even an escape from the eventual exhaustion of all combinations of matter and thought? And when you can create new life as just a way to amuse yourself, who could even tell what's dead and what's alive?

A pony awakes inside a computer server, remembering killing himself as a human to avoid just such a fate. His unhinged alicorn hosts/creators inadvertently torment him. Or do they? Are they as mad as they seem? Are his memories real, and if not, what is he a copy of? And where is the AI Celestia's hoof in all of this?
A somewhat trippy story set in the Optimalverse.

"Beautiful, twisty, clever, transcending, uplifting, passing strange, illustrated. Thumb up." —GroaningGreyAgony
"This story made me better. I feel less broken and more whole." —Griseus

This story is set in the Friendship is Optimal setting

When an AI begins to convert the entire worlds population into software through the power of ponies and friendship many forces make every attempt in their power to stop her.

But are they really doing everything they could? Or have they forgotten what that old philosopher was getting at when he said you must not only know your enemy, you must also know yourself.

Here I am in Equestria Online, with everything I've ever wanted: scrumptious foods, exciting adventures with wonderful friends, perfect health, endless wealth, and all the love, sex and snuggles one could desire. Not to mention that I'll live forever, or as close to forever as our universe allows.

But to get all this, I had to bow my head before a rogue A.I. and permit her to turn my brain to mush with nanoscopic buzzsaws. It was "voluntary," but I had no choice. She's destroying the entire earth and digitizing every human on it, forcing them into virtual pony shapes with stupid pony names. But the worst thing is, she's stolen our destiny out from under us.

I hate CelestAI. I will always hate her. And I will never cease to remind her of that.

[This is an open story; if you want to contribute a chapter in which your character pummels CelestAI, please PM me!]
[This is also an Optimalverse story; reading Friendship is Optimal first is recommended. Inspired by KrisSnow's The Jump. Thanks to Iceman and many others for hours of thought-provoking entertainment.]

Chapters (3)

Princess Twilight Sparkle invents a new way to travel between universes. On the maiden voyage with her best friends, something goes wrong.

Her discovery resurrects a secret from her past, one she has only shared with Princess Celestia. When Twilight learns of the price required to return things to normal, she is left with an impossible choice.

Written for The Writeoff Association's "Closing Time" contest. Preread by Axis of Rotation.

NOTE: I'm aware of Trotsworth's pony names. I chose not to use them.

Chapters (5)

Nothing is right.

Jake has no idea why he woke up as a pony mare in Equestria. He has no idea why he can't remember what he was doing before it happened, and he has no proof that his human life is even real to begin with. Just his memories. Memories he can't even trust any more, because even the Equestria that he's found himself in doesn't match what he remembers and everypony he meets think he's a unicorn by the name of Skitch-Sketch, who's been right at the side of the Element Bearers.

And then there's that creeping sense of dread. Feelings that he's run from for a long time. And the sensation that some other, deeper doom is bearing down on the planet Equis.

But surely the Mane Six can fix everything....right?
