105.4K words, and the second draft of "Learning To Fly" is complete! The next steps are some mix of taking a break from it for a few days, and fixing up the proposed new opening (which will make this even longer), and doing a spellcheck (done!). After those, I need to do a proper edit because this is 2/3 new material and bits of it are probably stupid. Would anyone like to beta-read?

My biggest concern here is that I've got a slew of characters, and readers might well be confused. A few are just brief shout-outs, but the actually significant cast includes a lot of named characters including "Peat", Lexington, Ludo and Misha from other stories. Unfortunately, another problem is that it's not quite logically consistent with the events of "2040: Reconnection", so I may need to revise that.

All in all, though, it was fun to produce this long, silly/serious thing, and an achievement to finish a novel much longer than any other I've done so far!

Yes, I gathered that.

>>1854939   The book is essentially the optimalverse but with two important changes.

One: it has Hasbro's MLP serial numbers filed off it so that it can be legally sold as its own intellectual property rather than as a fan fiction that would be in violation of copyright law if you tried to charge for it.

Two: Ludo is based on CelestAI but with fewer mary sue tendencies and less power. I personally love this touch because it creates actual tension as to whether or not Ludo will win in the end or not and opens the possibility for rival forces and AI's to compete against her.

If you enjoyed Prophet of the digital horse I think you'll definitely enjoy giving at least the kindle version of thousand tales a shot, its built around the same core concept as Prophet but improved with hindsight and new ideas.

Wow... thanks for asking! Myself, I liked the balance of the two. You did a great job in Prophet of haveing "in game events" and interactions with the real world. But, I would have liked to see a little more interaction of Fuge and his family. Maybe a chapter or two from the mom's perspective? I'm not sure.

But you could just retcon, or have something come up to drag him back into the frey.

More about Fugue then, ignoring the far-future ending chapter? I was unhappy with how "Prophet" turned out because Fugue resolved the conflict between wanting to participate in Earth and in Equestria, by shrugging and giving up on Earth. Where "Prophet" left off there was a combined shard for four original-humans (wow, it's weird to think of Lamp and Linda this way now), and any further problems they were likely to have were ones made up by CelestAI. What plot direction would you expect/hope to see: in-universe Equestria events, or continued contact with Earth?

From what I've read about that book, it seems compleatly unrelated to optimalverse. Inspired by it, sure, but not actually in the optimal verse. ...Or you just misunderstand. Or I missunderstand. But the point is, I was talking about that story, more to the story.
