This story is a sequel to My Neighbor

John Arrow is many things. A husband, a father, a friend, a veteran of World War II and Korea. He's a laborer and a mentor, a man of simple faith and plainspoken morals. The sort of Good Samaritan who makes the world a little brighter.

Mr. Arrow knows Applejack. He doesn't know Sunset Shimmer, and he doesn't know the two have a history. But when a chance encounter in the wake of the Fall Formal brings them together, none of that matters. All that matters is that someone needs his help.

Sunset Shimmer doesn't think she's worth the effort. Mr. Arrow disagrees.

This story shares a canon with My Neighbor and Their Neighbors, and My Neighbor's War. None are required reading, but all give context, and it is highly recommended that you read My Neighbor first.

In Pace Decus, In Bello Praesidium...In Peace a Glorious Asset, In War a Tower of Strength.

The Stonebridge Military Institute: a fortress of strict regimen, training, and education. Each of its cadets relying on each other to handle the rigors of its system: to survive their first year of brutal hazing, to endure the grueling training of their second and third years, and to embrace their roles as leaders as they take on their fourth and final year.

But something has changed, the corps has been torn away from their land and forced into another. An ancient Saddle Arabian spell-book, the Picatrix, has been stolen by a revolutionary stallion and his band of loyal mercenaries to activate an ancient summoning spell in hopes of gaining a tribe of mythical 'human thralls' to their army. Despite the efforts of a lone griffon-knight in her attempt to stop them, they've succeeded.

It was an old spell though, and the humans that it was bound to have long since passed. Living near the former home of the tribe the new inhabitants are called forth to arms in their place as the: The SBMI Cadets.

"Alright what even is this? Why hasn't this been featured, and why are there so few upvotes? I almost passed it by and I expected to drop it immediately due to low quality. But, nope it’s the best human raised by equestrians I’ve read this far." -A Predatorial Horse

"This was a fantastic read that I just happened to come across randomly.
This is a unique approach that is a breath of fresh air. In a sea of mostly silly stories, you're creating something that seems more real than most. Thank you for your work on this take, and I will be looking forward to seeing this story through!" -Chillean

"GREAT STORY!
It's rare for me to come across a good human in Equestria story that feels organic and not forced.
Too bad it's over. Now I've gotta wait years for the sequel to be done before I can read it." -Mocha Star

"Upside to reading at work: quality entertainment while waiting for the day to end.
Downside to reading at work: when said quality entertainment legitimately makes me cry in empathy." -Striving for Harmony

A good story lets you immerse yourself into the world it creates. A great story is one you don't even realize you're in until it's over. But what about the stories where the characters come to life?

...Literally.

How about one that's a little more than just a story.

A tale of a human who has found himself in an unfamiliar world, years off in technology from his own, in a town called Canterlot... but not that Canterlot.

---

A human in Equestria story with a twist.
