The Cutie Mark Crusaders ask Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy about what happened just after the events of the Cutie Mark Chronicles; specifically, what happened to Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash immediately after the race. Reluctantly, Dash and Fluttershy delve into a tale. A tale of a young Fluttershy's amazement at the world she had landed upon, and a filly Dash's desperate quest to save her from that most evil of places: THE GROUND.

It is the summer of 2020. The popular TV show "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" has finished its eighth, and what appears to be final, season. In the wake of increasingly violent attacks by an extremist Internet-based terrorist group, the founders of the popular pony site, Equestria Daily, decide enough is enough. Bronies from all over the world have gathered in a small, abandoned industrial park in the run-down outskirts of Chicago to find the culmination of their dreams: Equestria. Through the wonders of science, they flee Earth for a land of magic, mystery and secrets. They will be weighed, they will be measured... will they be found wanting or will their dreams come true?

Octavia Adagio is not enjoying her new home. Noisy neighbors, bad music, and middle school are just some of the items on her list of things she hates about her new Manehattan suburb. At least she has her music by her side; and as far as she’s concerned, that’s all she’ll ever need.

Or so she thought. Her first day of school turns into a doozy when a young unicorn with a penchant for talking decides to be her first friend. How will the normally refined tastes of Octavia mix with those of the arrogant Vinyl Scratch? I can tell you this; It probably won’t be pretty.

It all started with the weirdest dream. At the beginning, it didn't cross Rainbow Dash's mind that it might have something to do with the strange event which took place in Ponyville, or the mysterious little colt she found outside Fluttershy's cottage. As the dream recurs, however, she takes it upon herself to unveil the mystery that surrounds this seemingly orphan child. With the help of her best friends and that of an imaginative filly who has always looked up to her, she delves into the secrets of a world full of believing demons and faithless angels.
