There is a secret hidden spring on Sweet Apple Acres, and Rarity is happy to take full advantage of this for a little rest and relaxation.

But her friend Applejack has been under a lot of stress recently. It’s a shame she doesn’t know how to help...

Written as a bit of an experiment/self-challenge; I enjoy writing dialogue, so this story (as may have been inferred from the title) doesn’t have any.

Winona is a good dog, so she wants Applejack to be happy.

Rarity makes Applejack happy, even if both of them are too dumb to realize it.

To make her human happy, Winona will have to work with her counterpart, Opalescence.

The romantic dreams Rarity had been plagued with were now starting to become clear. She desperately wanted to know who they were about and it seemed her subconscious was finally ready to give her an answer.

It's been a year since a tragic accident took Applejack's parents. A year, and she still doesn't know what to do with herself. Encouraged by friends and family, she decides to spend the summer vacation at Fluttershy's beach house on Splendora Island. She's not sure if it's helping.

Then, one night, she finds something injured on the beach. No, not something. Someone.

What starts as good intentions steadily grows into something else. Whether that something else is good for Applejack is another matter entirely.

Rarity reads a romance novel that has a small twist on her expectations. This spirals out of control and she finds herself fixated on Applejack, of all ponies.

Is the book to blame, or is it something else?

Sunset Shimmer, who is catastrophically out of Wallflower Blush's league, has come back to town for the summer. Sunset is very kind and attentive. She likes hugs. She keeps coming up with cute little inside jokes. She stares, piningly, when she thinks Wallflower isn't looking.

So, it would just be very easy for Wallflower to get the wrong impression.

Which is why she was happy when she stumbled across a way to know the objective truth about how she and Sunset measure up against one another.

A pony is called stubborn when they refuse to change their mind no matter the persuasion against them. A pony is called persistent in hindsight when their refusal turns out to be a wise decision. "Persistence" is nothing more than what they call stubbornness when it turns out to have been for the best all along.

Pinkie Pie and Applejack may or may not be persistent, but they are most definitely stubborn.
