“There are three things all wise men fear: the sea in storm, a night with no moon, and the anger of a gentle man.” - Patrick Rothfuss

Winona is a good dog, so she wants Applejack to be happy.

Rarity makes Applejack happy, even if both of them are too dumb to realize it.

To make her human happy, Winona will have to work with her counterpart, Opalescence.

the gray-and-yellow haired human who always smelled of hay

*gears turning*
right, dogs are colour blind ish . .

Lovely stuff. The fact that EqG Gummy is a stuffed animal only makes his lofty position among the pets even better. As for the story itself, great work throughout. Excellent demonstration of dog, cat, and human thought processes, and the shortcomings of all three. Thank you for it.

I absolutely loved this fic! It was so cute and heartwarming, exactly what I needed today lol. I love how matter-of-fact and innocent Winona’s point of view is as well!

right, dogs are colour blind ish . .

Correct! Dogs are red-green color blind, but are able to see blues and yellows just fine. (I actually looked that up in my editing when I realized the error. Thus the last minute description changing.)

Two Jinglemas gifts for the price of one. I love it. Yay pets!

I wonder how Spike and Ray get along...

Opalescence let her true colors shine when she decided she hated Winona because of Rarity being sad because of Applejack. For all that some cats pretend otherwise, they do care.

Dunno if it was your intention, but I couldn't stop hearing Adagio's voice when I read Opalescence's lines. It just fits perfectly.

Also,

Fortunately, the gray-and-yellow haired human who always smelled of hay stepped in.

Loved this bit.

Quite interesting telling of a romance story. I particularly like the use of smells and colorblindness. It really makes it about Winona instead of just a funny POV.

Excellent work.

I think my favorite thing about this is the implication that Gummy in the EqG world is sentient, and nobody else knows.

Good. Also, I don't think I've seen a story with ray before, I had to look up who they were.

Ah, what a nice story! I always thought that the pets have lots of potential since they are obviously clever enough to have plans, but they are also very different and could act like another set of Mane 6 with new things to try out from a smaller perspective.
Haven’t seen a story focused on their pets for a while, thanks for it, and keep up the good work!

I'm glad I took the time to figure out the identity of the unidentified human based only on the hair color, because once I did, the description of her smell clicked, eliciting a bigger laugh.

Love it, great way to write the perspectives. I like that the animals don't know what the people are saying, only understand them through experience.

That was excellent :moustache:

This was great! Opalescence and Winona’s communication was so good.

Fortunately, the gray-and-yellow haired human who always smelled of hay stepped in.

Why is Derpy there?:rainbowhuh:
She's not part of the crew.
Also, the humans don't have coats like ponies, and Derpy's hair is only yel-
Oh wait! Dogs are color blind!:rainbowderp:
It must be Fluttershy, and her hair must look grey to Winona.
She probably smells like hay from changing the bottom of so many rodent cages.
Wait, same coat and hair problem as Derpy.
Fluttershy's hair is only pink.
Who the hell is tha-
OOOOOOOOOH!
It's Sunset Shimmer!

That was actually my thought process while trying to figure out who that was!:rainbowlaugh:

Little surprised that Winona doesn't note her leather jacket.
Also, the fact that Sunset still smells strongly of hay, despite not being in Equestria since the cruise ship episode (which was after the 10 minutes she was there in the Starlight Glimmer episode), implies that Sunset keeps hay as a part of her human life.
Hopefully she's not eating it, because the human digestive system probably can't tolerate too much of it.:twilightoops:
At the very least, she wouldn't be getting much nutrition from it.
Hopefully, she just has a hay pillow or something.

This is the second story that I've read that's from Winona's doggy perspective, and I LOVE IT!:rainbowkiss::yay::raritystarry::twilightsmile:

You really caught a dog's perspective of the world, and everything going on in it.

Rarity was up first and left before any of the Apples rose. There was a scent on her that some neutered part of Winona recognized but couldn't entirely place. But there was only the slightest whiff of it before Rarity sped out the door without seeing or speaking to any of the humans.

When Applejack got up, she spent the morning like she always did after Rarity left: she took a hot mug and drank out of it, staring out the window across the orchard. She had hints of that curious scent too, dampened by an early shower.

F in the chat for Winona's missing plumbing.
