For many a millennia he has slumbered beneath the earth, his strength recovering from a conflict as old as the sands it was fought upon. For many a millennia he and his people withered away into legends, spoken of by the elderly to their young as nothing more than stories before bed. For many a millennia the world itself forgot about this being, hidden away within a cage of dirt and rock and time.

But now he has awoken to find himself lost in a world nearly unrecognisable, dominated by a species he'd not laid eyes upon for many, many years indeed.

Yet there still lived a select few who knew him personally. To them, he was an old yet dear friend, long believed to have been lost to the cataclysm that cost him his people and his kingdom. Despite all the time that had elapsed and despite all that had happened throughout the years, they still knew his name.

Cyrus Perennem, 'The King Without a Crown'.

It's just another day in Tekky's shop, and that means it's just another day for Leech to pester the poor potion maker. Most ponies assume that something is wrong with Ditzy Do's eyes. Theories range from a head injury to a genetic disorder to muscle damage behind her eye. The crueler folk suggest she's just retarded. Nicer ponies say it's just a party trick she never got tired of.

They're all wrong. They're all very, very wrong.

I discovered the truth one day in conversation with her. One eye would always look at me, and the other would wander. At least, I thought it was wandering. So while we were talking, I followed it. Goddess in heaven I wish I had not. Never follow the other eye. Ever. Because Ditzy Do's eyes work fine.

She's just watching something. That... thing that's always in the corner of our eyes. And if she looks at you with both eyes?

Goddess save you.

This story is a sequel to Any Landing You Can Walk Away From...

Delta had a particularly rough winter holiday.

Not that they weren't always rough, what with all the emphasis on family, happy-times, and love... while she spent most of her holidays bar-diving and drowning her loneliness in booze... but this year was especially bad.

Things had seemed to be getting better for her - she was connecting more with her daughter, was starting to cut back on her drinking (admittedly, only a little... but still!)... and then the dreaded day had arrived and left her feeling alone, unloved, depressed... devastated.

Dragging herself out of bed on New Year's Eve a few days later, she prepared for more of the same...

But perhaps a certain yellow filly can turn things around for Delta, and help her to start the New Year on a high note?

Yup!

CONTAINS NO CLOP - Only innuendo, coarse language, and implied sexual themes.
