Short, silly Octascratch wherein Vinyl Scratch comes home to Octavia in an awesome vampire cape. Has Vinyl become a terrifying creature of dark passions? Will Octavia be amused? (Spoilers: no.) Is there a twist where it's not Vinyl who's the vampire but Octavia instead? (Spoiler: also no.) Or perhaps Vinyl has simply been reading way too many vampire novels recently? (Spoiler: it's that one!)

After being apart for five years, Vinyl finds out that Octavia got married. Knowing there is no way she can have back what they once had, Vinyl feels alone. She won't let anybody in. She won't let anybody help. She just wants to forget her biggest mistake: letting Octavia go.

This takes place after the events of Autograph by RushingAutumnLeaves. I suggest you read that story first.

Vinyl Scratch had been mute all her life. She's long since accepted that. It doesn't get in her way as much as one might think.

But, when it comes to telling Octavia how she feels, there could be no greater obstacle.

There was only one explanation. For all of it. All of the strange, erratic behavior. Her irrational fear of the sun. Her nocturnal habits of locking herself in in the dark and closing all the blinds. Wearing her sunglasses everywhere, even inside! It was time to invest in some silver, garlic, and a wooden stake.

Vinyl Scratch and Octavia are a couple. Octavia is trying to make Vinyl more like her Canterlot friends, but Vinyl objects. They get in a huge fight and Vinyl leave for Manehatten. Octavia follows using the information she learned while with Vinyl. Octavia goes to Vinyl Scratch's favorite hangout and hears her sing a song.

An argument between Octavia and Vinyl Scratch becomes heated, and Vinyl does something that threatens to tear their friendship apart forever. Dejected, depressed, and guilt-ridden, Vinyl attempts to drown her sorrows in several glasses of liquor, but soon discovers that hard-drinking won't help make amends, or make her feel any better about what happened.

When Vinyl Scratch explains to her and Octavia’s daughter, Sharp Melody, about the birds and the bees, the little filly has some interesting questions for her mommy.

Octavia and Vinyl Scratch couldn't be happier together, but the cellist's friends can't seem to see why. When Octavia has an important meeting, will the mare that's stolen her heart seal the deal for better, or for worse?
