Farewell to A Friend: Darth Link 22 · 12:31pm Mar 11th, 2022

Last night I heard terrible news that is still aching in my heart. One of my longest friends on this site, Darth Link 22, had apparently passed away on Feb 27, 2022 from what appears to be a head injury. This is heartbreaking as I had only talked to him seven days before his death.

Darth Link and I have helped each other in our writing, praised each others work, and known each other for a long time. His story series, Post Nuptials, is one of the best stories that has been made. I've even helped him with ideas for other stories for his and he's helped me with mine.

I was helping him with the story Journey to the First Flame as both a helper of the outline, editor, and sometimes writer for certain scenes. We even had the final moments of the fic planned before he died. I still have the parts he hasn't posted and I'm seriously considering finding some way to post them and continue the story in his honor, but I need to figure out how I can do this. Perhaps talking to one of the site's mods to open a separate fic that continues the chapters from where the original left off and finishing it that way. If I do this, I will not be working on the Assassination rewrite until its done as I feel this is more important, but I will continue to plan and post Burning Soul since I've already started those chapters.

My heart and prayers go out to his family and all those who knew him. We lost a great writer in this fandom and we lost a good friend. This is something that came out of the blue and I'm not going to deny the sorrow in my heart since I considered him a great friend. I'll keep you informed of my hopes of continuing the story for him.

Farewell my friend, Rest in peace.

That’s awful news. I’ve been a reader of his stories off and on through the years and he was good at what he did. To hear that he has passed is terrible!

I'm so sorry to hear that. He was a great writer, and a wonderful person.

Oh my god, I'm so sorry to hear that.

Dang. That's quite an unexpected gut punch.

Rest in peace. I may not agree with some elements in your stories, but they're usually a fun read.

I am sorry for you loss. So sad. This sort of thing could happen to any one of us. Our lives sniffed out with a blink of an eye.

I'm so sorry.

May he rest in peace.

oh no! D: oh, that's terrible, he was so great :( and I don't just mean as a writer

Oh no that's so sad I'm very sorry for your lost 😔

fuck.... thats terrible.

Oh dang sorry for what happened to him

My sincerest condolences.

A "head injury". That raises a thousand questions. I hope, at the very least, that it was quick.

All my sympathies. I'm sure the mods will understand and help you finish his work. Godspeed.

Dang. I always expect the popular writers I keep track of to be around. This is just another brutal reminder of mortality and that anyone can go at any time. Fimfiction has lost a great writer. May someone be able to find a way to complete his unfinished works.

He was a frequent commenter on my stories, a fine author in his own right, and a kind soul. I'll miss him. My most heartfelt condolences.

I... I'm at a loss of words, especially considering I just bookmarked one of his stories a few days ago. My condolences to his friends, family and other members of the site who knew him. He will be missed by this community.

That's sad to hear. He was a good author.

Oh my god... I can't believe this! I saw his last blog post and I thought he was doing fine. I was praying for his safety every night. I had no idea he passed away just one week later.

Darth Link 22 meant a lot to me. I wasn't just a fan of his work, he was the first author I found on this site, and every time he updated it made my day even better. I guess this just shows you how you should appreciate everyone in your life, because you never know how long they have left.

Goodbye Darth Link 22, we're all going to miss you. May he rest in peace.

Post Nuptials and its sequels were instrumental in my decision to join this fandom, and Families remains one of my fondest reading experiences from those early days. Much of my fascination with Twilight and Spike's dynamic can be accredited to Darth's interpretation of it. When I made my account in December of 2018, he was the first user I followed.

Going off of his final blog post, he had so much more life to live — so much more writing to write — and now all of those goals and aspirations are just… gone. Forever unfinished, at least by his own hands. It's not right.

May he rest in peace, and may the loved ones he left behind find some degree of peace as well in this unimaginably traumatic time.

This is terrible news :pinkiesad2:. It's always so sad to lose such a great talent at such a young age, which unfortunately seems to be a horrible thing that happens far too often now, be it from health problems or plain accidents. Many young talented men and women have passed suddenly, on this site and others in the world. Not only do we lose seeing anything else produced by them (which is the case with Darth's Nuptialverse), but they leave behind so many friends, family and fans who love and care about them.

R.I.P. Darth :ajsleepy:. Be sure to give the others up there a hello from us.

I never knew Darth Link 22, nor have I read any of his stories, but my heart breaks for the friends and family he leaves behind.

We’ve lost someone important, and all the dreams, goals, and inspirations that he carried with him. We will never get those back, and the world is sadder for it.

Rest in peace, Darth Link 22.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Have my sincere condolences, as for his family as well.:ajsleepy:

My sincerest condolences, I've been reading his stories since I first found them years ago and he will truly be missed.

I don't know if I ever had the opportunity to speak with them. But I share my condolences no less. May his spirit rest in peace.

Head injuries can indeed kill a healthy person out of practically nowhere. Those of you who think helmets look dorky, having your brain splattered across the pavement is far dorkier.

I'm sorry to hear about their passing. My condolences to their family and friends

Oh my,:applecry:
May he rest in peace.

Dang. He was one of the first authors on this site I followed and read consistently. That really sucks. Hope you are doing well, and if you need someone to talk to, let me know.

My condolences, that is tragic news indeed. Especially after his last journal. I only know him from reading some of his stories, but I really did enjoy them. I wish his friends and family strength (you included).

Aw dang!

Condolences for you and his family

Damn I heavily enjoyed several of his stories. This sucks for the fandom.

I'm sorry to hear that...

I'd followed him and read some of his works. Needless to say, I was not expecting something like this. :fluttercry:

Man, this is really unexpected to hear! I meet him irl at BABScon one year. RIP dude.

oh hell. Loved Direction and all it's presiding stories.

They will defenetly be missed.

I am so sorry to have broken the news to everybody. I was told by DarthLink's father what had happened; I logged into Facebook and had received a message from DarthLink's account basically stating "Hello, this is DarthLink's father. Please call me at this number:" and so I did, knowing that I would only receive grim news. And as I read the comments, I am again reminded that DarthLink was a prolific writer who had touched many others in his time here. He got me into Friendship is Magic and his writing reached a far wider audience than mine. I am humbled, and I will not take this opportunity to plug my own work. This is about DarthLink, my friend, and how he was taken from us so suddenly and far too soon. He had so many stories left to tell, so many dreams he hoped to accomplish. At least he is now reunited with his mother (who he lost in 2007 to cancer).

Another tons of good stories that would never be concluded. Rest in peace.

One of that things that seem impossible.

So, what happens to his Fimfiction account and his incomplete stories then?

That's awful n sad, I really love his work

We lost an amazing writer n a great person :applecry::fluttercry:

...What? I'm now shedding tears here... I've been friends with DarthLink22 for nearly 10 years and we've worked together on the Longingverse... even though I never met him face to face, I will miss him...

I don’t know what will happe. To his account but I intend to post the chapters of the Journey of the First Flame that he didn’t post and finish that fic in his memory since I helped him with it

5643135
Even though I never met him, at least he's in a better place.

5643125
That’s how i first heard about him and his Post Nuptual stories. I’m so sorry to hear he’s gone

So sorry to hear about this and so surprising. May he Rest in Peace and I hope for the best for his friends and family as they have my prayers.

5643118 That is far and away not the most important or appropriate thing to ask when a person passes away.

Other accounts belonging to deceased users (such as MythrilMoth and RarityEQM) are still up, so Darth Link's should be fine too. From a logistical standpoint, FIMFiction's mods won't treat his account any differently from one whose user simply decided to log off and never return.

Point being — as 5643150 Posh alluded to — worry not for the words; worry for the deceased man behind the words, and the loved ones left to live on in the wake of his untimely passing. The latter deserves our priority.

I'm sorry to hear that, man. I can only offer my condolences.

Dang. He's one of the first few authors I've followed when I started on FiMFiction and I've read and enjoyed many of his stories which are my favorites to this day. To hear that he passed away so suddenly is heartbreaking! :fluttercry:

May he rest in peace and my sincere condolences to his friends and family. :ajsleepy:

Wow, that's a blow. He will be missed, most certainly.
