me checking the dislike ratio on my new story

Glad to know bigotry is still alive and well in this fandom.

It's glad to see some of us didn't watch the same series as I did.

    So where I've been

Okay, uh... how do I begin this? Well, I suppose I should start with the obvious. Yes, I've been distracted. If you follow me on Archive that should be obvious. And if you don't, you totally should btw. Yes, I'm shameless.

Been a hell of a ride, honestly. I just apologize for dragging it on for so long.

Why the fandom can't have nice things... · 3:17pm Aug 9th, 2020

...or what happens when I finally have had enough of several users making asshats of themselves. That's right, those who shall not be named finally made me disable comments on "What's So Terrible". ...pretty sure it was a smart decision in hindsight, really.

Also, if you comment on my user page or... anywhere else really with comments on how you think Celestia is a fascist tyrant, consider yourself blocked, and your comments WILL be deleted.

Comments ( 16 )

I'm really sorry about that bud. But yeah, disabling the section was probably for the best.

Jesus that flamewar got out of hand. >.<

The fact that people STILL believe that shit infuriates me to no end...

This fandom probably never deserved to have good things in the first place. All people are interested in are clop stories, poorly-written one-shots, power fantasies, and other cringeworthy fanfiction. If something good does come along, we either milk it to the extreme like Fallout Equestria, or we protest it like they did with your story. Legitimate fiction that tries to make a point or speak for itself is rarely talked about.

You just summarised fanfiction perfectly. I don't get clop; what's the point in reading about ponies having sex?

I agree with you Bricklayer; Celestia is no tyrant. Like any leader, she has to make tough decisions, and that often means picking the least worst option.

I dunno, I've seen some pretty good fanfiction that hasn't suffered many problems over my time on this site.

My question is, why do you care what others say? I mean, really at the end of the day so a few idiots make comments you don't care for. You just ignore them, don't respond and move on. They go away when they see their attempt at trolling failed. I have had my share of them, and they all do the same thing.

The problem was, well, it was basically them turning the comment section into their personal cesspit, baiting others and basically ruining it. It was better for my own sanity.

5332365's got a point. Yeah, situations like this are crummy, but there's still good things out there.

*paws at*

But there's still good things that's come out of this fandom. Yes, we get some bad, but it's a part of any fandom; we get the good and the bad, it's just a natural thing that comes with anything, really.

Things definitely got out of hand since you've done this (left this story for later and missed all the stuff, as usual).

I offer you some links for your perusal.
The Prisoner of Zebra by Tumbleweed. It's the first in his Flash Sentry Chronicles. They are all worth reading.

Discord Teaches Philosophy by CrackedInkWell. Exactly what it says on the tin. A one shot, but later followed by a second story with multiple chapters.

Coda Codex Equestria: Scientific Pony Tails Tales by Pineta. Again, exactly what it says on the tin. Exploring basic scientific principles in an easily accessible way. With ponies.

The Last Trumpet's Call by Cold in Gardez. You want something a little more drama/serious? I give you something a little more drama/serious.

The Rise and Fall of the Dark Lord Sassaflash by Dromicosuchus. Action, adventure, horror, comedy, drama, character development all wrapped in a fantasticly blended MLP/Lovecraft world that doesn't violate show canon (at the time of its writing).

The Education of Clover the Clever by Daedalus Aegle. Adventure, comedy, mystery and some of the absolute best callbacks and use of Chekhov's Gun's I've ever seen in a story.

The Lazy Dragon of Dragonvale by Georg. This absolutely deserves to be an illustrated children's book.

Mortem the Last Necromancer by SecretAgentPlotTwist. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL use of the "Unreliable Narrator" trope.

The Epic of Thunderstorm and the Four Winds by Philosophysics. Another user wrote a piece where Rainbow Dash relates an old Pegasus legend to Scoots. Philosophysics turned it into a proper Epic. Like, an actual literary Epic.

In Memory Of by Obselescence. Written before Twilight got her wings. Kicks you right in the feels. Bucking onion ninjas...

Bugs in a Blanket by somatic. Grumpy momma changebug is best changebug.

Little Deceptions by Taranth. Heist thriller with a dose of comedy, especially the stinger.

Whom the Princesses Would Destroy by GhostOfHeraclitus. The first showing of Dotted Line. You should also read A Canterlot Carol and Orbiter Dicta for the full Dotted experience.

Hoardsmiths by Skywriter. It's a very meta story if you know what it's being meta about. If you don't, it's still a very good story. Which is the best kind of meta.

The Keepers of Discord by Hoopy McGee. Written before Discord's reform an a truly amazing piece of work.

The Palaverse by Carabas. This is a whole series of works all set in the same universe. VERY worth the read. The world building is absolutely amazing. Start with Moonlight Palaver, The Tempest and Wedding March.

I'm really sorry about that blowup. Jeez, the stupidity of some people... :facehoof:

Though all the same, I agree with you and FourShadow and Jade Dawn. There's lots of crap stories and crap people out in the fandom, but you get that in one form or another in most any fandom really. There's still gems out there in ponyfic as far as I'm concerned. It's important to remember that.

My comment still stands: Good reference to a good story.

My comment stands as well. Clark would approve.

Unfortunately fans still hate Celestia and over loved Luna. When Luna has done literally nothing for Equestria as a whole. The fans still think Luna would have been a better ruler. When even the show showed she could've last a day in Celestia's shoes.

Yes there were better she could have done but really she did the best she could.
