Stairway to Equestria: The Book

This is not a story chapter.

From the epilogue:

“There is one thing, however,” Spike added right before turning to leave. He leaned his head forward and spat a small stream of flames. From the green fire materialized a large pile of scrolls. “Remember that book we wrote together a couple of decades back?” the dragon asked.

“Stairway to Equestria?” asked Celestia.

“Yes, that one [...]"

It's been a while since this story has finished. One important update I forgot to make is about a small 'tribute' I've made for the story, in order to better remember the work I've put into it as well as my editors.

A small, limited print of the novel has been made. Copies have been distributed around the world to my main editors, as well as the winners of the contest I hosted while publishing the last chapters. I wanted to have something to hold as proof of this amazing journey that has been Stairway to Equestria, as well as to reward in way the dedication my dear editors have shown by putting hours into editing the story.

Now that I have a dream job in the industry I love so much, it will be difficult to write another story. It's hard for me to imagine another world that is not the one in Stairway to Equestria, and I think that all I had to give in terms of writing creativity was put into this story. I'm sorry if this disappoints some of you, but there are far more talented authors out there anyway, with better stories and imagined worlds and characters.

So thanks again for reading the story, thanks for all the help, all the comments, all the messages. All of you made this possible . . .

I still have several copies of the book that I am willing to give away for free! You will, however, have to pay for the shipping costs. Please contact me if you are interested!

All copies now gone! Thank you everyone for the interest. It's exciting to have my story physically reach out to so many places around the globe: USA, UK, Sweden, Romania, Israel, Australia, Chile, Trinidad and Tobago, and Portugal. You are the best readers an author could have!

Alternative: if you can't afford the shipping costs you didn't catch a copy, I can send you a complete digital version of the book for free, including the print-ready PDF, the full cover as well as original doc manuscripts and fan art collection! Get it HERE!

Drop me a PM and I'll hook you up with another link if the one above doesn't work.

Last-minute edit added: if you can't afford to pay the shipping prices but would still want a 'taste' of the book, PM me and I can provide the print-ready files I used for the print run (including full text and digital cover!)

I remember reading on screen when the story was first published, the reason I buy books, is so that my copy cant be deleted on me remotely at a future time when some politician ges snubbed or similar.

Currently, the longest story Ive read in nice 40 year old ASCII standard text on a 1.2 inch screen on an MP3 player, is about 1.2 million words in size but its book mark function pretty much wasnt.

this is why I dont like modern implimentations, such as PDF etc, because they keep trying to corrupt standards. nothing wrong with a text representation and a font list for graphical recreations. that, and quick translations etc, but thats for another time, using other 30 year old representations of common data formats and interchangable files.

Still, thank you for your offer, but its already here. :twilightsheepish:

I would absolutely love a cover, sadly I can't afford shipping :< in between work is horrible.

If there is a copy left can I have it?

I would like to get the copy but think I'm unable to bring it to my country. Can you give me some details about the shipping? I want to see of there is a small chance to get one copy of your book. I want the digital version too, just in case I can't get a physical copy.

OH MY GOD!!!! I don't know what to say other than ask if I can have a copy of the book? This is literally my favorite story over everything else and I am able to pay for the shipping if you have a copy left that doesn't have a owner.
P.S. I am somehow managing to suppress a major freak out at the moment and I feel that I am supposed to send you a pm instead of commenting. :applejackunsure:

> Hyper-evil Discord,

Point goes to you on this one. When I wrote part 1, the story was supposed to end right about there and generally be a tragic, dry satire of your average HIE. But yea, I kinda took it more seriously when I saw people actually liked it (and subsequently tried to make it better to the best of my abilities).

> hyper-evil gryphons

Warrior-inclined nation, not an uncommon representation of gryphons if you ask me.

> hyper-evil Trixie

Resentment and hate can fester into bad things in time

> giant murderous changeling swarm

So . . . seasons 2 ending but with some extra/realistic violence

> god-mode main character who must battle his darkside... who then dies anyway

The second part of this eats up the first. To be fair now, the death of the main character (well, at least the way I did it), is not something that common. Blink had his fate sealed from the start, and the readers find that out right at the end, as they think everyone will live happily ever after.

> time travel...

Sorta, not really. But yes.

> involving souls and causality loops...

I think that was pretty original. Yes you have a couple of loop stories here and there, but they focus on the loop. Looping in this story just serves as a crutch to hold up parts of the plot.

> nuclear bombs

Ish. Nuclear bombs-ish . The principle of nuclear detonation is an effect to a cause, I don't see why the concept cannot be used in a different world, especially since the character knows about it in the first place.

> and lots and lots and lots of death.

If I recall correctly, there are no more than ~ 60 000 deaths described in the story. 99% of these are casualties in the battle presented in the two war chapters at the end. The rest of the story is quite dry when it comes to characters dying (at least compared to most dark/serious fics out there).

Overall, yes. It started out as a HiE when I knew very little about writing. I eventually came to regret having the human component but at that point it was too late. I do hope however that you at least enjoyed it a little bit.

6142332 send me a pm then, It's hard to keep up with the comments as well

That's amazing, and I think that is a really awesome way of thanking your supporters and keeping the memory of this story alive. I'll be sending a PM for you as I can't really afford to ship from the UK to here.

B-but I want to read the alternate ending! But I can't, book, Whyyyheheyyyyyyyy!?

6141981 how much do you think it will cost to ship to Russia? Perhaps your mail service had some kind of shipping cost calculator.

6142703 edited the chapter with extra details. There's a digital 'deluxe' version available for free, pm me and I'll give you the link

Do you have anymore left to send
the book looks awesome and I would y a copy

6143574 I'll pay $20 more than shipping. Are any copies

Well, this was a heck of a story. Overall, I enjoyed it greatly. I wont ask for a copy because US shipping is likely too high, but thank you so much for the effort and work you put into it.

not likely I'm afraid. Read the last chapter when I go more into detail as to why I won't be writing anymore.

Alas, I'm more than glad that you enjoyed the story!

6233388 It is mentioned in the summary that the tag is only for the prologue. There will be other references further in the story though

Ooooh I really want a physical copy, but I can't pay the costs atm, I'll try to find it on eBay in like a couple of years when things are more stable.

Um do you still have any copies left please.

6302785 unfortunately no, sorry. Will update the chapter.

6303110 oh man. It would have been sweet to have the real thing in my hands. Oh well still is a great story

6303471 Thank you, I'm glad you liked it. Feel free to grab the full digital version of the book (link in the last chapter), it has the cover and ready-to-print pdf that was used for the small print, as well as all the manuscript files of the story + art work done by some readers

Is there any way to actually buy a physical copy? Or are you clean out, I would to have a Physical copy of a story I enjoyed so much.

6339954 All gone, sorry :(

6339958 It's a shame my friend, good story though. You're the first person I've seen to make a physical copy of a Fanfic, really cool though. :)

6339966 Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

6363683 They (namely King Arnost and his niece, Gilda). were fairly upset that the pony made it out of the Pit alive. Also, by that time they were planning to invade Equestria anyway and he must have seen that Blink had a lot of potential after he defeated the manticore.

I loved the beginning, but right at the end of second part when he leaves Twilight to join the army I freaked out and dropped this story.
7.5/10 though

6484392 I'm sure that if you liked the story up until that point, you will like Part 3 as well

6303481 Link doesn't work :raritycry::raritycry::raritycry::raritycry::raritycry::raritydespair:

6485118 I was waiting for him to come back to Twilight and live long and happy life, but it didn't happen :fluttercry:

6497483 They lived quite a bit together, raised a family. Yes, Twilight spend the remainder 42 years of her life without him, but she had her kids, Spike, her friends.

I mean, the story does have a "Tragedy" tag, so yea, not your usual happy ending, although in the very end, they were all reunited

A really good, well written story. I would love to read a sequel that places Twilight and Blink on a new world and they basically become that worlds version of Celestia and Luna. (With them still being husband and wife as the only major difference.)

6660787 The idea/story behind Blink's name is in the final FAQ. Make sure you read that one after you finish the story! (don't read it now though, lots of spoilers there)

ill be honest, i hope u become a great and famous authot man. and i was gonna say that im surprised hasbro didnt hammer u with legal shit, but then i realized, u didnt sell the copies, u gave them away so nice man. i myself am in the process of writing a novel and im hoping to be well on my way to becomeing an author such as yourself.

6713170 Thanks for the comment. I've very glad that you enjoyed it and good luck with your plans!

PS: Hasbro can suck a big fat horse phallus, they ruined the series with S3 ending. :trixieshiftleft:

6721694 No, that's an Edgar Allen Poe reference. I've never watched RWBY.

Back and Tsk, it seem i miss the whole party oh well, i was gonna say, good luck man, Oh and great story i ever read in 2014.

6727074 Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
