Takes place in the IDW comics continuity, immediately after the Discord arc. If you have not read issues 1-10 already, then please do so or this story will not make sense.
Discord has been reformed once again. Following his attempt to destroy all magic, he has done much to come to terms with his actions. Though he is accepted by pony society, he still prefers a life of isolation as it was the only life he ever knew for centuries. Yet that solitary life is about to be uprooted when none other than Izzy Moonbow, the very pony who had mercy on him in the first place, comes knocking at his door and inviting him to have holiday dinner with her friends in Maretime Bay.
Suddenly, Discord is thrown back to the days where he had friendship, the day he had love…the day he had Fluttershy. He doesn’t feel like he is ready to be given a second chance yet, but Izzy will not give up on him….

Friendship is something still worth fighting for
This was such a great story! I was never fond that they used Discord as a villain, and it's good seeing him in G5 as a good guy again.
He was still fixated on one pony in particular who had caught his eye since the moment he met. That lavender unicorn would not leave his thoughts. Her name…it was Izzy Moonbow, wasn’t it? A strange little pony, yet endearing all the same. She reminded him so much of Fluttershy that it wasn’t even funny. In fact, one would even go so far as to call her very existence a reincarnation of the pony he once loved. There was no denying the similarities between them, and whenever he thought of her, he thought of his beloved.
I still think Fluttershy's still kind of is like hitch because of their abilities but if we're going to go for personality I guess that makes sense for Discord having interest with Izzy since she kind of reminds him about Fluttershy showing him kindness since she's also kind of like an outsider to her own kind as well and probably Misty as well
But I still think that Izzy is sort of like Pinkie Pie when she gets excited
Okay this is an interesting start of a story here and nice to see G5 with Discord after the event during the comic series so apparently Discord return back to his Hideout underneath the Canterlot ruin and he still has some trust issues with ponies after what happened and I don't blame him but I just hope that someday he will come to sense that from that bad experience he will never do that again well it looks like Izzy is going to change that because she invited her to the hearts warming eve party which Discord hasn't been there for a long time and he felt like he shouldn't but somehow he couldn't say no to Izzy and it looks like he's going to be there well let's see how this will go next time

Huh, someone really has been alone for a long time to the point it is feeling impossible for them to fit back in with everyone else.

Boy that was crazy party so it looks like Discord finally arrived to Sunny's house and some mixed emotion of seeing him here but of course Izzy make sure that everything is all set for him to feel comfortable which he never felt that for a long time and of course old habits die hard he created a little bit chaotic chicken and wreaking havoc but it went a little bit too far and it was starting to attack him and Izzy so with determination he got rid of it Sunny felt embarrassed about the whole situation but somehow the Ponies were actually had so much fun with this whole situation which that's cool and everything now the only question is would it Discord go I guess we'll find out next time
Okay, Did not expect Discord to go freaking Titanic on us, but here we are
Thankfully Izzy pulled through for him in the end.
And now for her to destroy the multiverse.

I felt like that's a reference to Titanic when Rose use every amount of willpower to call for help with the whistle before she freeze to death
Awww this was a really nice story so izzy trying to find Discord after the craziness just happened but she couldn't find him and the storm was getting really bad and she was starting to feel numb and sleepy that she will never find him but she did but unfortunately it was unconscious from the cold and she tried to wake him up but it was no use and it was way too far to get home as well so both of them were in the deep trouble and the Cold well consume them but luckily there were two ponies who were walking heard them thanks to Izzy's whistle the other Ponies were about to find them but didn't have to because the two ponies rescued Discord and Izzy after she starts to regain her conscience she tried to wake him up as well and thankfully he was okay but he felt like he doesn't deserve the friendship and he really didn't want it to lose anybody else sometimes change can be very scary but Izzy will help him get through this alongside with the others and it felt like he can trust him again and I hope he does find his peace with everybody here this was a very nice story and I really like it keep up the good work and Merry Christmas

You show concern for Discord, a very powerful chaotic being capable of spreading chaos and disharmony all over the land and nearly ruining everything a couple of times now, but you have no concern for a little filly (or two other certain creatures) trapped in stone, evil or not?

Man, talk about bringing us back to the [G5 fandom] era when all we had was the movie, a few comic issues, and a whole heap of speculation and hopes for the direction of the series! A nostalgic era indeed! (yeah I know it's been only 2 years) 😅

Yeah those were the days, back before people discovered that they could actually clout-chase off of milking G5 hate. I miss those times, honestly. Give or take a couple of reactionary YouTubers here and there trying to stir up trouble in the fandom, the period post-movie really was the calm before the storm. There was actual excitement and people were still positive about MLP.

I was more reminded of the early eras of FiM and the Brony fandom when we had just 1 or 2 seasons and the stories that built off them in such a way that didn't allow for future official content incorporation but expanded Equestria in their own ways, like Fallout Equestria, Keepers of Discord, the endless Changeling fics, and no Crystal Kingdom in sight. (Past Sins did allow for future seasons to happen btw, I remember those fics, and fans have written their own [and arguably better] takes on Twilicorn pre-s3.) Imagine writing something that hearkened back to those days and going in a different direction than what was set in certain Season junctures.
As for G5 junctures, I remember one of the first G5 fics on here, that is "Sunny Starscout and the Mystery of Magic". Heh.
