It’s explained in the story. I’ve already established in the bio that Zipp wants to apologize for her actions back in the movie, but Pipp also wants to apologize for something she had done in the past as well. So I meant Pipp in that sentence. I hope that clears it up.

It was originally set after A New Generation, but I kept putting off writing it so I could focus on writing the stories for my upcoming Guardians of Harmony shared universe. By the time I had finally decided to write this story, it had already been half a year since the movie and the Make Your Mark special had come out. So, I retooled it to be a sequel to the special instead of the movie. I think it makes a lot more sense character and story-wise, but you be the judge.

I liked how you related Pipp's social media obsessions with wanting to be seen as 'important' like her sister.
Zipp has demonstrated twice now how fixated she gets on solving the greater problem at hoof, and how mostly everything else doesn't matter to her when she gets like that. Leaving Pipp behind in favor of ensuring the crystal's safety was one such situation. Casting aside her sister's attempts to cheer her up in the MYM special because it wasn't addressing the problem is another.
She is a self-proclaimed problem solver, someone who likes to figure things out, but she can get too focused on that and appear insensitive to those around her. Make Your Mark had its poor writing, but it did give Zipp's character more depth and really made this character flaw clear. I'm grateful for it. Zipp is more relatable now, and we have insight into why she may have made certain decisions in the film.
Anyway, cute interaction! Never enough of these two.

Thank you so much! That’s actually a really good analysis of Zipp’s character and I agree. For me, it always bugged me how the plot point of Zipp leaving her sister behind to be embarrassed, even if it was an accidental mistake in the heat of the moment, was never really resolved. It came up two times in the movie in passing and zero times in the special. I wanted to provide a closure to that arc that the writers didn’t seem to care about.
Pipp’s social media obsession being connected to self-worth was always something that I saw in her and it was only reinforced when I saw “Make Your Mark.” With it being confirmed that Zipp is the heir to the Zephyr Heights throne, it kind of made me think of how Pipp felt about being cast aside in the royal lineage, how that would effect her, and how she would cope with it. I sort of put two and two together and voila!

I haven't tackled acknowledging this scene directly myself (largely because a lot of other authors like yourself so kindly have), but I've definitely worked to bridge their relationship in a similar vain. The S-Regimen, for example, shows what could happen if Pipp had confronted her sister about her standoffish behavior in chasing the secrets of flight before the events of the film.
No problem! Hope you decide to do more work with these two in the future.

This story covered a topic I'd been wondering about for a while and thought it might be revisited either in the show or comic; I'm glad to have read this because it's the way I would have liked to see it done; the interaction between the sisters. A 'clearing the air' between them on the night in question and dealing with unresolved feelings about it. Character driven stories like this are a favorite of more, especially when it touches back to the move and/or the first G5 special with continuity. Kudos on the work.
