This story is a sequel to Closing the Barn Door

Two vaults with two experiments. One set the ponies out on their own, forming a tribal group. One kept them close, creating a vault-dweller herd of ponies. But there's still one more to be seen. How were they treated and what did they form?

Let's bring this story to a close(?) with the ongoing adventures of our mane character, Buttercup, the robotic companion horse designed to serve at a child's side, even in the wasteland.

Pffft, too old for that??? Who can ever be too old to ride a horse?

Stans excuse. Its tricky to shoot back from standing on top of a running horse when youre an excelent target sillouetted against the sky as youre running away.:scootangel:

Stan is “pint sized”? We have a Brad Williams ghoul? Now he has to ride giddyup everywhere. I want to see this with my mind’s eye.

Yep, there it is. Just as amusing as expected.

Fortunately a quiet trip on the encounter table on the way out, but an occupied town in the wasteland without decent visible defensive security? They have an Archchancelor Mustrum Ridcully in residence, or something else and other? :trixieshiftright:

Fallout got three chapters, why not us?

Well, that was thinly veiled : ) not a fan of forth one I dare think?

Still, glad to be back to this crossover series!

I see this is the third in a series. I will have to come back later when I finish the first two.

We will eagerly await you for more Fallout shenanigans.

It's been hinted for a while now that he was a actually a ghoul child. :ajsmug:

11616163
I do not recall anyone other than giddyup mentioning that until now. I figured that was a shortcoming of giddyup having to designate “child” and “parent” roles rather than Stan actually looking young. It would make sense why they had so many “Stan, eating is necessary for growth”. “I ain’t growing giddyup! I am already fully grown.” conversations if that is the case though.

I can still see Stan just being a dwarf. All of giddyup’s strange comments just being due to programming. I hope that is the case. It would be a lot funnier and make his interactions with humans not questioning the idea of a child carrier make more sense. Ghoul or not I feel like he would get questions a lot, haha.

11616339
I note, for the most part, they were dealing with not-humans. Ponies without much of a clue, who didn't know better.

11616349
Darn, that is all but confirmation. My hopes for tiny and humorous Stan have been dashed against a sad childhood backstory.

11616355
Stan is still small and arguably humorous. Don't laugh where he can hear though.

Well that's why you lean downward. Just like you don't wave your arms akimbo while walking.
Heavy box to deliver eh? Potential MacGuffin marked!

Snrk Applejack is getting way too comfortable using Giddyup as a steed. 😈😅

"Pish posh." Rarity waved that right off. "First step, you need to treat yourself to some well-deserved pampering. You're so dry! Let's take care of that first with a luxuriating spa day."

Is making Stan moist really an improvement, though... :pinkiecrazy:

Poor Stan, Rarity was just thinking of helping him clean up, instead of Tanning his hide. :duck:

Oops, and forgot the most important thing.

Stan just delivered Rarity her Metal Storm weapon system.:pinkiecrazy:

"Directon: Correct."
"Direction: Correct."?

Thanks for writing!

Weyyy!

Love the idea of this, and the execution in every chapter is brilliant. Nice readin!

Glory unto Caesar!
Caesari Gloria!

So Spa, so good. Maybe a tanning booth would give Stan that nice blue glow? :duck:

Well it probably has been some time since they engaged in a proper bath. A nice trait to have for a few moments.

As a wise man once said: they work quite well!
Shrewd, always on the lookout for the next job, but he's not pushy. Stan gonna be the highest ranking courier in the popularity charts.

It's pony life!

It's a sweet, magic, fast, posh, fun, cute pony life!

"imagining any oil cold do too much to"
"imagining any oil could do too much to"?

Fixed. Do hope you're enjoying the story.

11638778
I am, aye, thanks. :)
(Sorry if I ought to have said so explicitly earlier.)

Smart of them, rustle up work that keeps them coming back to this paradise!

Fluttershy for Wasteland Adeptus Mechanicus confirmed.

Just dont ask about Angel, her Defiler class Maulerfiend in her Shed. :yay:

A'ight sheriff, y'all know the difference between the letter of the law and the spirit of friendship, yeah? Let's see how the mayor approaches it.
A wild Flutters appears! Where in the world did she learn binary?

11649021
Hey, hey, hey, stay outa my shed!:yay:

I picture Fluttershy "speaking binary" as making old school modem noises. :pinkiecrazy:

Finally all caught up and loving the story.

"The raider had expected much that day, an angry horse robot wasn't one of them."
"The raider had expected many thing that day, but an angry horse robot wasn't one of them."?

"into him. breaking things"
"into him, breaking things"?

"ground in a mess. "Moderate damage sustained.""
"ground in a mess.

"Moderate damage sustained.""?

"he punged a needle into"
"he plunged a needle into"?

"Let's how they got one."
"Let's hope they got one."?

"ponies were emergine and"
"ponies were emerging and"?

Thanks for writing!

That shootout really frazzled the microphone.

Love this chapter. Action, mild pathos, citations, and Fluttershy.

11657601
Citations being the key to a quality chapter.

11657750
And it sets them up to meet the mayor, which sounds fun. Will be an interesting contrast with the jerk Overmare of Applejack's stable.

I wonder if Stan an AJ just had a dinner date at The Priceless Cafe?

There are places where nothing has a price. If you need to ask? You cant afford it.:trollestia:

Stan: "be careful not to drink yourself under the table!"
Just because there's calm, doesn't mean there's a storm. Elongated respite is surely appreciated.

Fluttershy took them to her home, a quaint little structure done up like a little homey cottage. A shame the inside was nothing like the outside. Mechanical parts littered almost every available space, and little automatons wandered about with no obvious visible intent behind each one. "Don't mind them," she called as she nuzzled a few on the way past. "They come to me for repairs when they need them. They know I'll take good care of them." She took one up into her arms and hugged their blinking body close. "Precious things."

This was the first thing I thought of is when the character J.F. Sebastian in blade runner brings in the off-worlder replicant into his home.

A nice, relaxing chapter. I hope they force a few caps on Fluttershy.

Hehe, always fun to meet the longer-lived. Didn't see that one coming at all!
Kinda interesting how all of the vaults seem to have been given different instructions and goals. Seems politics pervades even in the ostensibly congruent plans.

11670498
Welcome to Vault Tech! They love running different tests with different parameters.

11670508
"we're throwing all the *&$# at the wall because there ain't no more time to debate it!"

One with the microphone the other with teh writing implement?

Nosey News and Parker Pen?:trixieshiftright:

She got the looks, but does she have the particle accelerator target training? :rainbowderp:
