*GRIMDARK*

Finally the time has come for the queen of the changelings. Years of meticulous planning and preparing have all lead to this day. Her day of vengeance. Nothing will stop her from getting the one thing she desires more than all else, the destruction of the one who took everything from her.

Doesn't Chrysalis know that Twilight and the others will obviously have a changeling disguise detection spell by now. And I doubt Twilight will be fooled by her. I mean, she caught Chrysalis when she was pretending to be Cadence from the beginning.

Plus, Thorax and the good changelings will see though her disguise too.

So her "revenge plan" to tarnished Starlight's name is hogwash. Sadly, Starlight's still dead. And when Twilight, Trixie, and the others find out.

I wouldn't blame for beating Chrysalis a inch of her life. And then have her executed. :pinkiecrazy:

Well I'm glad you feel so passionately about this... And um yeah this isn't really meant to go anywhere, hence the whole one shot deal. I hated Chrysalis since day one when she "beat" Celestia, but I got some real big respect for her once they threw her and the actual changelings under the bus.

I mean it could be argued that security would be lax about actual changelings what with the episode where Chrysalis literally enters Twilight's castle as a photographer so assuming they have any sort of defenses is foolish.

Anyway it's just a one shot non canon for Chrysalis' sake. She deserves something nice throughout all the series. I mean she ended up a statue, how brutal is that?

Thanks for giving it a shot btw, appreciate it!

Yeah, Chrysalis is pretty wild, but she doesn't really deserve anything nice 😁
If I wrote Chrysalis here (and I LOVE doing that, you should check it out), she would've agree that she is horrible, unapologetic, irredeemable monster
And then she would've eviscerated Starlight alive.

Good read!

Agree 100 percent and I'm glad you like it! Still makes me so proud that the last thing she did in the series before getting turned to stone was lunge to attack. She has no quit in her!

11548800
I know, right! Pure unadulterated drive. She is kinda like a shonen protagonist, but evil and alien, and with a bit of charisma
Bug Queen for the win.

11548801
Yep gotta agree, she quickly became one of my favorites in the fandom once I saw how awesome she is.

11548761
Yeah, someone WILL notice the out of character behavior. Whether it be Twilight, Spike, Trixie, or even Maud. Chrysalis eventually could get exposed.

For Starlight’s sake, I really hope that’s the case. She’s already dead, that’s enough revenge.

I hope Chrysalis rots for this.

I'm so sorry! Truly I love Starlight so much. So much so that I've already got a one shot written and ready to post next that stars her. I just really wanted to step out of my comfort zone and try my hand at something dark.

And it doesn't get much darker than Chrysalis. Sometimes you have to give those villains their deserved win I think. I mean it's not canon so it's all good right?

Thanks for reading I truly appreciate it!

11548935
Deserved?! She doesn’t deserve a victory! Chrysalis dug her own grave! Starlight owes her NOTHING!

But yeah, this isn’t canon so that kinda makes me feel better. I also have reason to believe Chrysalis will get exposed, so that’ll help me sleep easy.

11548936
Y'know I don't really disagree with you but for some reason my heart really softened for the bug queen.

Maybe it's cause I really don't think the show did her justice. So much potential wasted on a very interesting villain.

Lol I'm glad. Besides we all know In canon Starlight is so ridiculously powerful she'd never let something like this happen to her.

11548942
What makes you think Starlight wouldn’t let this happen?

11548951
In canon? She's too strong, too observant, and too smart. She also has heavy plot armor. I mean in canon she stood toe to toe with Chrysalis without magic.

She also could've destroyed all of Equestria if she hadn't been reformed, I mean it's not like Twilight was winning that fight any time soon.

She also split the earth when she "banished" Discord from the school grounds which is arguably the strongest feat the show has to offer.

Starlight is absurdly strong in canon.

11548961
Yeah. I imagine if these villagers were suddenly accusing her of regressing to her normal self. She would have DEFINITELY knew something was wrong instead of moping about it.

11548970
Yeah I kind of thought maybe it was more plausible because of her reservations in that particular finale where she was super insecure about the town, but this takes place after that so yeah.

There's definitely some suspension of disbelief needed to not throw this fic in the trash, but it's a one shot that I had fun with so I think if you take preferred characters out it's pretty good, at least for Chrys.

I think the biggest case of which there's suspension of disbelief needed lies in Chrysalis probably being too self-aware about herself; I don't think she'd exactly be as readily and straightforwardly honest to herself about, say her first invasion plan being a mistake, because she has serious problems with taking actual responsibility for her failures, just out of how narcissistic she is; she's kinda lost herself if she's telling herself she's not going to be grandiose anymore.

Also she really missed out on the fun if she's not dragging it out for a long time, as far as the perspective of "now I'll have all eternity to take my revenge on you" in S9 seemed to have went; I think that's a fun concept, how devastating that would be for Starlight over time, her friends being gone, how broken she would be, being mentally broken down into believing that it's all her fault, since she's prone to blaming herself... there's a good amount of story fodder there, I think.

It's criminally underrated how few stories there seem to be about Chrysalis getting revenge on Starlight, IMO; Starlight is one of my favorite characters in the show, and Chrysalis is my favorite unreformed villain in the show, and thoughts of Starlight suffering are oddly alluring. I really should muster up the confidence to try...

But minor personal peeves aside which hopefully didn't come off too harshly, it was appropriately disgusting what Chrysalis did here, especially towards the end. It felt slimy, evocative of her violating Starlight, especially given the choice of words.

Upvoted the story for that being done well, and I can't help but agree with the earlier takes that she'd probably drop the ball somewhere; for instance, Trixie might eventually catch on that she doesn't remember something she should ala "Klutzy Draconequus," or something like that, and it could then go crashing down.

Yes thank you so much for the feedback!

One of the main points with Chrys that I tell everyone is that I am heavily influenced by Integration

https://www.fimfiction.net/story/57956/integration

So my Chrys is a bit different than canon Chrys.

I'm so glad you got the... Less uhh good qualities? Lol I don't know how to put it, of that final scene. That's exactly what I was going for.

Honestly you should write a Chrysalis revenge fic. I'd like to read it.

Thanks again for the feedback!

dang it I procrastinated on replying

Ah, I see. I must admit that I've never actually read that story, at least, to my memory. That makes sense. I think the most I had actually gotten into changeling stories as a general rule was if it involved a Mane Six member being one, but it had faded from my radar to a noticeable extent. Winds of Change, IIRC, had a pretty unsympathetic Chrysalis... but man, did that ending feel rather... rushed and tacked on, Rainbow Dash becoming a Queen because Chrysalis fed her her hair, having hoped to kill her that way by not doing the procedure properly, if memory serves.

I'm so glad you got the... Less uhh good qualities? Lol I don't know how to put it, of that final scene. That's exactly what I was going for.

In any case, I thought that it was fitting for the character; there's been people who've thought about her along those... lines since around the beginning (the way she acted in her debut, at least).

11568914
Not gonna lie that ending sounds absurd.

I was very reserved about listening to Integration too as it starred Caramel and I was just like... Uhhh who cares he's nobody? But there's a performance of it on YouTube so I gave it a shot.

I'm so glad I did as it's still top 3 for me to this day. Chrysalis is still brutal in it. She's not kind at all even at the end it's a miracle what happens, but she's just so believable that I had to adopt that lore as my own personal head canon.

somehow, chrysalis going back and ruining starlight's legacy is the bit that really bothers me

That was supposed to be the twisting of the knife. I'm glad it was effective.
