Opaline is, in my opinion, incredible potential dropped. I think if they would have ignored g4 and made Opaline a g5 only villain she'd have had a better story. Good design in every way held back by forcing her connections to g4.

Think of shows like Spongebob and even MLP to a point - just event after event per chapter with some continuity added in. Some story arcs here and there but you can jump in anywhere
As opposed to shows like Avatar, Steven Universe, Pokemon, etc. which are story-based and have an overarching story
