A big, beautiful, luscious mane of bright hair would be the envy of everypony in Equestria, aside from the one trapped under it.
When Starlight Glimmer hears about the powerful magic used to defeat Tirek, Rainbow Dash volunteers for an experimental spell to unleash her rainbow-powered potential one again to recapture the boundless energy and ridiculous speed she had that day. To her dismay, she is caught with all the cosmetic changes, but none of the energetic benefits. Now, Rainbow must lug a cumbersome amount of hair until the spell wears off. Her fabulous style catches the attention of Rarity as well as her new marefriend, Autumn Blaze, who both just can't get enough of her voluminous mane and tail.

Holy mackerel, what an absolutely lovely little fic. As I told Jhoira, I'm really a big fan of the silent Autumn Blaze mechanic, it challenges the writer to have her express herself almost exclusively through physical reactions, hums, and taps; and I'm extremely glad I got to see your take on it.
What can I say? The characterization and pacing of this small story are spot on. There are so many moments I can pick and say I wasn't actually reading fanfic, but I got transported to that scene and I was observing these characters react to one another. Add to it some really wholesome romantic moments and humor and you have very solid fanfic.
Some examples:
I'd show this short fic to anyone wanting to simply exercise characterization of the "mundane". There's no such thing as "mundane" if you have believable and relatable characters, and this is proof of it.
One last thing to add. Knowing the context of the creation of this fic from discord, I have to applaud that you nailed it this good in just 11 hours AND kept to Jhoira's Precise word count gambit.

Any issues at all? Eh, a few words repeat every once in a while, but nothing major at all. I'd feel I'd be needlessly nitpicking

Thank you for your kind and insightful words as usual. It was pretty fun to write, not going to lie. Once I figured out the rainbow power angle, the rest of it just snapped together. Even had Jhoira preread it first to make sure I was accurate as possible. She only disagreed with Autumn's reaction to missing out on mane styling. She'd be annoyed, not distraught. Couldn't change that though, so I rolled with it.

My only complaint about my own fic is I couldn't find a good way to avoid saying Mane, Tail, and Hair constantly.
