Well, we suspected this was personal. And it clearly was. In fact, this looks like it was more about sending a message than anything else. The Inkosi could've sent any of his hundreds of enslaved murderhorses—heck, he could've sent more than one! But he didn't. And that's probably because whether or not this attempt succeeded wasn't as important to him as rattling To’Achuu, but even more so, Hajaa. Hurt him, twist the knife. I dare say it worked.

Though it was immensely satisfying as well when Thorax, ever the gentle soul, showed he's not defenceless at all. Hajaa obviously needed a reminder of that too, for his peace of mind. Thorax is not only the ultimate cinnamon roll, he's also quite powerful for a Changeling, even if he has trouble accepting it himself.
