Before the events of the show, Zecora finds herself on an airship back to her homeland. It will not be as she remembers it.

Part of the Season 10 Bingo Writing Contest. I'll reveal the card I got in the Bingo when I post the last chapter. See if you can guess what it was!

Hm. I'm intrigued. Tracking for now.

I'm guessing Gustave, zebras (either in general or specifically Zecora,) changelings or Chrysalis, earth pony flight or Torque Wrench... and maybe one of those combo verbs.

In any case, you have me thoroughly intrigued. Looking forward to seeing where you go with this, though your Zecora...

As a rule of thumb, try to have the same number of syllables in each half of the couplet. A zebra with this much screentime? You need some rhythm with your rhyme.

You've seen the poems I write when I don't follow a pre-existing song.

I absolutely SUCK at poetry and rhythm. The following story is filled with my blood, sweat, and failed tears.

Not an excuse, just a... don't expect it to get much better sort of deal.

Well, this bodes ill. We'll get further information soon enough, but this is still a worrisome state of affairs.

Just because zebras can cheat doesn't mean griffins are hopeless in the kitchen. They just have try harder. And actually supply ingredients. Shock and horror, I'm sure.

That said, it's kind of hilarious to see provincial, casually speciesist zebras. After all, they're usually on the other end of that exchange.

Buried, ancient technology composed of glowing runes... I'm sure it's completely safe and nothing to worry about.

Also, I did love the engineer/artist argument between Torque and Gustave regardin standardization.

Oh wow. This just went through about three levels of deep intrigue. No idea where it's going from here. Eagerly looking forward to finding out.

Oh. Huh. So this is what We Don't Talk About Captain Thunderhoof was like for readers.

Consider me blindsided on multiple fronts. Definitely looking forward to seeing where you go with this from here.

Hm. Still not quite a fan of your Zecora rhythm (though you've already mentioned that), but damn if the story itself doesn't have me hooked. :rainbowderp:

Huh. That was unexpected. Though the timescales involved are a bit peculiar. Let me see if I have this straight:

Centuries ago, Xie brought together thentofore nomadic zebra tribes in her dead hive, starting her new empire. Over long study, she improved her understanding of the zebra mind and infused their culture with changeling values. Shortly after Zecora left to explore Equestria, Xie's knowledge was comprehensive enough for her to move to the next phase, initiating an industrial revolution and other massive technological leaps now that the zebras couldn't object.

Do I have that right?

Pretty much, yeah!
Though you didn't tie it to the crystal that sealed Chrysalis in the volcano in the first chapter. That WAS Xie.

...Interesting. I wonder how that happened?

That went well. And I largely got the prompt. Thrilling and very unexpected tale; thank you for it and best of luck in the judging.

"dropping her disguise at the same time.

Chrysalis teleported in a moment later.

“You… you are…”

Sasori dropped her disguise"
She dropped her disguise twice?

Aye, I think it was a fun story. :)

Well that was interesting. I didn't know that bingo thing existed. Nice way to put them all together.
