Also, I was very glad to see Cadence's conversation and her feelings for Shining in the previous chapter, as that pretty much wraps up any lingering difficulties I had with their relationship, and gives me exactly what I was hoping to see in the previous story, a much more deeply affectionate moment and expression of Cadence's continued love for Shining
I also really hope they still go through with her additions to this, as I totally agree with her on it
I also am still hoping for tons more of the teasing I mentioned in my first comment when they do this
...and am a little disappointed that Sombra's actions in this chapter probably mean Shining will not be receiving painkillers during the procedure unless somepony intervenes

What the hell? If Cadance cares about Shining even an iota as much a she claims why doesn't she get him some mental help? He clearly has major self-worth issues and they're allowing him to make a critical decision about hurting himself without the input of anyone who actually cares about him?
Fuck but Cadance and Sombra in this are awful. They're literally taking advantage of his lack of anyone to talk to who gives him any positive reinforcement or any actual comfort in life to grind him and hurt him for their own amusement. Worse Twiligth apparently thinks her brother suffering and having no-one who isn't literally cheering on his pain to discuss this with is fine? This isn't cuckold fetish, this is literally two people emotionall and physically torturing someone with clear mental health issues for their own amusement.

So, the conversation between Cadence and Shining in the second chapter, where Shining is clearly willing and able to defend himself and Cadence also clearly wants this to be about his choices and shows him clear affection and even is offended when Shining assumed she didn't want another foal with him and makes clear she does mean nothing to you? Or did you not read them? If Shining really had self-worth issues he would not have hesitated in saying yes right away. To me, it seems like you two are confusing Shining's love of degradation and submission for mental issues...
This is fantasy that explores the deepest depths that a trio, a (now ex)-husband who likes being belittled, dominated, and put down as long as he gets to have his say at least once, a wife who has apparently really likes to have wild sex but also clearly enjoys the romance and connection with both of the stallions in her life in each unique way, and Sombra who is growing into a better pony but (likely) has issues regarding the immense difference in his harsh and sadistic personality with everyday life and has grown quite close to the two ponies who have given him both an outlet, a foal, and a relationship to share, can go with said relationship. That's how I see it anyway, and after this story and in particular the chapter I mentioned I cannot understand how you two and possibly others can see it so negatively other than not truly comprehending the fetishes and relationship involved here. If you have an alternative way of seeing it that you can convince me or at least persuade me towards I would love to hear it, but I don't enjoy it when I see what appears to be just stark demonization

That is exactly what I was hoping would happen in terms of Sombra's intentions for the event, and Cadence's reactions. I also am honestly not surprised at the direction the rest of this took. I am still hoping as I just said for those measures (even more now, because my brain is now bringing up "What if Sombra or Shining (same thing at this point) decide to remove those benefits?"
I'm probably being silly though, as Sombra said (even though he can be deceitful, I doubt he would lie at that point) he was fine with them, and even was willing to have them done regardless of Shining's decision, but I do wonder what will happen with such a crucial caveat now...

As the commissioner of this story, I will say upfront that from the get-go my vision in terms of story/content direction was to go very dark and pretty extreme for the cuckolding fetish, with entries 1 and 2 being prime motivators.
With that in mind, the stuff in this story was never meant to portray a "healthy" cuckold relationship, but focus instead on having fun with the characters and setup, especially because I consider it an optional sequel as VClaw put it as. Shining here is ultimately making the choices on his own more or less, and if he wanted to stop it's my thought that he absolutely could and everything would stop. He's had *multiple* chances to do so, but he chooses to continue doing what Sombra asks because he wants to, and I think that if Shining is okay with it then so are Cadance and Twilight.
I like the darker elements of cuckolding when it comes to sexual fantasy more than "healthy" scenarios, which I am NOT against at all and in fact I have plans to actually commission a proper story set in the "Showing His Place" AU with a focus on healthier forms of cuckolding, but that's for later on down the road, hopefully right after this story, but we'll see what happens.
To finish up, for this story, it's mostly for me, and if you don't like darker elements of cuckolding, then this story DEFINITELY isn't for you. If you're reading this story hoping it gets "better" for Shining, stop, because it's probably not gonna turn out the way you want. And if you're still reading it after the wonderful story disclaimer and this comment, then that's... just on you. XD
Well, my worries are all but out the window. That, and this chapter got me going, man do I love ball worship! (actually most kinds of worship really...)
Barring an unknown or a change of mind, the instant this story is finished it is going straight into my Extraordinary folder right alongside the previous story!
Even if this was not how far you were considering to go with the relationship these three have, I think you are just knocking it out of the park!
You prove again and again how great a writer you are to be able to work outside of not only your own considerations, but actually get me (and possibly others) on board with it as well as write it in a way that works so well in general (many I'm sure would not be able to balance wants, necessities, care, and cruelty anywhere near as well).
I also liked the pondering on Shining's cage, as it is because of this story and one other that I like them now (and I just got an idea for a story to write involving one, write that down once I'm done with this comment for later). I hope Sombra teases Shining about what a good little cocksucker he is, and perhaps Cadence gives it a shot too. I think they teased him about it the first time he did it, but still...

I would say the concept of "this is not a healthy relationship" is false.
A healthy relationship is what all parties decide it to be when they make a decision of sound mind. So long as that decision doesn't harm others and makes those within the party happy, then it's healthy. Regardless of its contents.
Is this somewhat extreme? Absolutely. But extreme fetishes are not inherently unhealthy, and neither are 24/7 cuckolds or submissives.
I feel that those complaining about this being "unhealthy" are simply reacting to this going past the mark that they themselves would be comfortable within such a relationship. And that's alright, it's okay to have varying opinions, limits and preferences. But it's not good to point at something and claim "unhealthy" without grasping what a healthy relationship actually needs to define. Just because its not your speed, doesn't make it unhealthy.

Yeah, that's about right, it means nothing to me. Cadance is showing affection to emotionally manipulate Shining into giving her more of what she wants; torturing Shining, physically mutilating him in an irreparable manner and giving Sombra more chances to hurt him. Cadance has made clear from the entire story that to her Shining's wellbeing, health, and stability are meaningless compared to Sombra being allowed to torture and hurt him. Shining has 3 confidants who he can speak to about this situation and every single one of them literally mocks him, enjoys seeing him physically injured and have a vested interest in continuing what they want him to do.
If Cadance had his best interests in heart why not tell Celestia or his Parents? If Cadance had affection for him why does she feel a need to hide what she and Sombra are doing to him from his parents? From Celestia and Luna? From Flurry? If everything she is doing is simply an expression of affection then they'd understand and everything would progress as it was. By actively depriving Shining of this she literally keeps him trapped in a bubble where he endures constant, constant abuse, degradation, torture and has no sympathetic or compassionate confidants or friends in his entire life. That he has not committed suicide yet is a miracle but I have no doubt the next story will be Cadance and Sombra telling him to kill himself so they can get off on their jollies since the two seem to see him as nothing more than a piece of meat for them to torment.
Furthermore, if Cadance actually had affection for Shining, or romantic interest in him, she would actually show it and interact with him beyond endlessly insulting him and belittling him except for this one case. So it is absolutely impossible to take seriously that Cadance has 'affection' or 'romantic interest' in him when, beyond this single case, she never interacts with him in any context beyond hurting him.
Also your statement that if he had self-worth issues he would not agree to this readily is just ridiculous. It is exactly because he has self-worth issues that he does agree so readily. Shining literally currently lives in a bubble where he is constantly told he is worthless, constantly put down, constantly has his life demeaned and belittled and equated to nothing by all three the closest people to him and not one of them shows any remorse for what they have done. This is literally exactly a situation which creates self-esteem issues and leads to situations where the individual becomes so dependent on their abusers they do anything, say anything, to achieve some form of validation because they receive no positive reinforcement or validation anywhere else in their lives.
Thinking that because an abused person is agreeing with his abusers they are somehow 'incapable of having self-worth issues' frankly just displays a lack of awareness of what self-worth issues are and the self-destructive behaviours they manifest.
Cadance displays no ongoing romantic attachment to Shining. Beyond one chapter of asking Shining's opinion, when he first engages with her, Cadance's interactions with Shining are near exclusively insults, belittlement or an unwillingness to stop Sombra consistently calling him worthless and dehumanizing (deponynizing) him. There is no romantic attachment at all. Cadance is utterly awful in this. I simply cannot even think how to reconcile this with the Alicorn who said explicitly that "All my thoughts does he consume" of Shining.
Nor do I know how she is willing to do this to Flurry Heart's Father, to not give him even a single confidant who does not constantly torture him and insult him, who actually cares about him. Then again based off VClaw's seeming pathological need to have everyone in Shining's life hate him I assume in this fic if Flurry ever does find out she probably tortures her father, calls him a worthless failure who should die, and then begs Sombra to fuck her as well.

Cadance literally is concealing everything they are doing to Shining from his own parents. She is concealing her child's parentage. She is more than willing to deceive and conceal if it allows her to continue her sick torture of Shining. It is clear she has no care for him at all at this point and just sees him as a living toy to torment and degrade and to whom she can barely even say a kind word.
