Movie night is about more than just watching a movie. Movie night is about arguing about which movie to see, who has the better taste in movies, and whatever terrible movie your friends made you watch on the last movie night. The Shadowbolts need to decide on a movie, and preferably before they end up killing each other.

“This is terrible,” Sugarcoat said. There was a general murmur of agreement throughout the living room.

“They’re leaving out critical plot points from the book,” Twilight said, resting her chin on both of her palms.

“The actress who plays ‘Daring Do’ is awful,” Indigo Zap said.

“The special effects make me want to puke,” Sour Sweet said, as she stuck her tongue out.

“It’s an obvious cash grab on a popular book series, with none of the heart of the source material,” Sunny Flare added.

Sounds a little like me when I'm sitting in a Michael Bay movie.

Terrible movies are for watching with friends, so you can make jokes about their badness later.

7790397 Haha, I think we've all been disappointed by an adaptation at some point...and we've all probably been disappointed with Michael Bay too :rainbowlaugh: Thanks for reading!

7790440 Indeed they are! :pinkiehappy: The only thing better than a good movie is a bad movie you can mock mercilessly. Thanks for reading!

7790461 Not a problem, I can't wait to see more.

kul

Heehee, nice!

By now I'm giving your stories a like and a fave before the cover page has even finished loading, and so far I haven't been wrong in that. Great work, once again. :raritywink:

And now I'm picturing Lemon Zest and Indigo Zap having one of those "Oh stars, did she see/recognize me?" skits at the theater.

7790632 I'm glad you found it funny :pinkiehappy: Thanks for reading, and for the fave!

7790865 Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for reading!

7791244 Why thank you so much :raritystarry: I'm glad I haven't let you down so far, haha! Yeah, Indigo Zap and Lemon Zest are almost definitely dodging around one another at the theater...though, I'm still not exactly sure what Indigo Zap's guilty pleasure is :rainbowlaugh: thanks for reading, and thanks for the fave!

Nightmare Moon as a slasher character, with Luna as the movie actress? UPVOTED!

7791363
Well, I was implying that they'd been watching the same movie. In disguise, of course. :trollestia:

7791495 Haha, that joke was originally just a reference to the "Halloween" franchise, and I decided just to go with it. :pinkiehappy: Glad you liked it! Thanks for reading!

7791556 Quite possible! I'd guess those "Shadow Spade" outfits will get some more mileage out of them :rainbowlaugh:

So when among friends, Sour Sweet drops the "sweet" part and is just 100% angry jerk? :pinkiecrazy:

7792239 Huh, I thought she'd kind of toned it down here...though, to be fair, my friends and I rip on each other much worse than Sour Sweet does here, so maybe my perspective is skewed?

7792494

It's not that her nasty comments have got nastier, it's that In the movie, she prefaces her angry comments with a sickly sweet one - now she's skipping the "sweet" bit of the "Sour Sweet."

I, uh, have nothing specific to say this time, apparently my writer's block even affects comments. Anyway, it was enjoyable as usual. You ever consider writing something a tad longer and with some tension or proper antagonism in it? I'm beginning to wonder how you'd do with something like that, since the short and fun stories you already have down.

7794318 Heh, I'm going to be honest here, proper antagonism is something I'm actively trying to avoid in my fanfiction. I'm even trying to avoid outright serious themes. There are reasons for that, the big one being I spent a lot of time writing stuff that was more tense (or, at least, I thought was pretty tense). And don't get me wrong, that was a lot of fun, I enjoy writing darker stuff as well. Buuuut...well, MLP is something I go to when I want to relax and smile. And I want other people to smile when they're reading my stories as well.

Basically, the reasons I go to fanfiction are to spend more time with characters that I love, and just to try and have fun with it. I try pretty hard to keep from writing any outright antagonistic characters (hence why Principal Cinch has only ever really been alluded to, and never actually showed up). So, if I ever did want to write something darker, to be honest, MLP probably isn't the setting I'd do it in. Maybe that makes me a worse writer, I don't know. But, eh, that's the reason I'm here. I'd like for my writing to make people smile, and if that's all I'm accomplishing, then I'd consider it time well spent.

Anyways, thanks for reading! :pinkiehappy: I'm glad you enjoyed it!

7794361 Aw, too bad. I love me a bit of emotional conflict with MLP characters. :flutterrage: Now you've got me thinking if it's possible to write something with directly post-movie Cinch (not time-wise, but without anything having happened after the movie that would lead to her chilling out) and make it non-antagonistic. I don't see her as someone who's just against everything good and hates everyone; heck, if anything, the shadowbolts seemed perfectly comfortable around her until the very end. How's that for a challenge, eh? :trollestia:

7794458 Did I just have the gauntlet thrown down in front of me? :rainbowlaugh:

7794470 More like a mitten. And I'd like it back. But the symbolism of the gesture remains the same, rest assured of that! (I mostly say this because of my unreasonable love for Cinch as a character and thirst for her appearances and meaningful roles in fanfics).

7794502 Haha, fair enough! Yeah, sure, I'll give it a try  I don't have any ideas off the top of my head, and I've got another piece I want to finish up first, but I'll give it a shot! :pinkiehappy:

7794506 It would be pretty cool if you managed something, but no pressure in case you don't get any inspiration for it. (Someone we both know happens to have two whole stories about her if you want some inspiration, wink wink).

holy shit this was my last friday night pretty much only with video games and anime instead of movies xD

7797142 Haha, sounds like my friends when we decide to watch anime. "This is terrible. "Well, we don't have to watch it..." "No, no, let's keep going."

7797267 pretty much xD would love to see the shadowbolts have a game night or something...that'd be hilarious xD

Character exploration, universal truisms, friendly advice, what's not to like?

Also, Pinkie watching Friendship is Magic seems frighteningly plausible. Especially given the "trading places" hypothesis.

7845288 Hehe, I got inspired for having Pinkie Pie watch MLP or an MLP-like show from "The Light in the Darkness", where she watches, "My Little People." Plus...I couldn't resist slipping in a little more Sugarpie in there :twilightsheepish: What can I say?! I think it's adorable  Thanks again for reading!

This was enjoyable.
Loved how the girls taste in movies is nothing like what the others think it would be.
Im liking these flawed characters attempting friendship better the main six.
The shadowbolts are just so lively.

7881359 Well, I'm glad  Because that's exactly the impression I'm trying to give with these series. Flawed, less than perfect people, still trying to be friends, and in a lot of ways succeeding. So, I'm glad if that's the experience that you're getting here.

Thanks for reading!

Of course Pinkie is a Pegasister...

7952568 I think it's explain a lot!...or just raise further questions. In any case, thanks for reading! And for following! Glad you're enjoying these stories!

Of course The Day the Earth Stood Still is a documentary. Oh wait, the Earth would have been destroyed if it were true. :pinkiehappy:

8194648 Haha, I'm...not a huge fan of the "preachy outsider to humanity" trope, if I'm being honest, and that maaaaay have come across here...

Thanks for reading!

Later? Usually during. Once a year on average, my friends and I get together sometime in the summer, usually during a weekend BBQ cookout, and watch cheesy B movies. This year's highlight was Dark Star. If you haven't ever watched it, I highly recommend it for the cheese and really bad writing. Don't expect great pacing, or action, it really doesn't have either. But it's a high point in bad B movies, which has a group of people trying to discuss existential philosophy with an AI-driven bomb which refuses to do what it's told, and a homicidal alien which was apparently just a beach ball someone stuck some alien feet on and made a set piece out of.

About the only thing I'd pair that with is Star Crash, which has Christopher Plummer and David Hasselhoff in it, believe it or not. It's still a very bad B movie, make no mistake. But there's something awesome about watching Christopher Plummer in a chintzy gold cloth emperor's outfit, stand up and order, "Imperial Battleship! Stop the flow of TIME!!" Maybe not the worst film he's ever collected a weekend paycheque in, but certainly one of them.

8364864
Ah, two of the best worst movies. You have excellent taste in crappy films :pinkiehappy:

Props for the TDTESS reference! :twistnerd:
But only if its the original, not the crap-fest remake starring Ted “Theodore” Logan :pinkiesick:

9442098
Thanks so much! I imagine SciTwi is a fan of classic SciFi (obvious pun is obvious :rainbowlaugh:) and would drag her girlfriend into it. In that spirit, I imagine it's the original, and not the remake.

Thanks for reading! Really glad you continue to enjoy these!

9442361
Well she has excellent taste :pinkiehappy:
And i shall continue to enjoy, thx for writing these awesome stories! :yay:

So, found something on Derpibooru, and thought it would fit for this story.

It's a nice, fluffy piece of writing, but eh. I don't think it's my cup of tea. It's not hooking me and reeling me in like I want it too. Not a bad piece of work though. 👍

“But it’s crazy,” Sunset Shimmer said, gesturing to the black-and-white program with her free hand. “We’re supposed to believe this alien is the good guy. But he shuts down all technology on the planet and threatens the entire earth because they may, someday, be a threat to him. Who knows how many people he hurt just to get that point across.”

Me in a nutshell
