Sugarcoat has a crush on Pinkie Pie, but she needs a little...encouragement from Twilight to actually ask her out. Can someone who doesn't even understand the concept of "white lie" or "tactful wording" win over the element of laughter, her family, and their friends who seem a little more involved in her romantic life than they really should be?

Your Sugarcoat is surprisingly refreshing in some mysterious way. Most of the time I see her, she's just a rather bland repetition of her gimmick, though it is often funny. Instead of comic relief with hilarious dry remarks about everything (no matter how much I enjoy that kind of Sugarcoat too), she feels like a human being.

Also, a heated philosophical debate between Maud and Sugarcoat needs to happen. And do I smell a waft of SciTwi x Sunset? It's an instant classic that I can never have too much of, so I hope to see your take on that as well.

By the way, you ever thought about writing some of the background-er CPA students? The 6 "lesser" shadowbolts or someone like Fleur. Personally I'm a big fan of Jet Set's EqG design. He feels like some sort of young millionaire playboy.

7569561 :pinkiehappy: I'm so glad you liked it! Honestly, Sugarcoat may be my favorite of the Shadowbolts...which makes me a little paranoid about writing her, haha. Every time I have her say anything, I have to, like, step back and ask myself, "Is what she saying completely 100% honest?" In my headcanon, she's not really that intentionally rude, she just doesn't understand being dishonest, or even being tactful. She's just...wired differently from everyone else, and may not even understand that she's really different on more than an academic level. Idk, maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it's the interpretation I'm going with, haha.

Yup! I sorta ship SciTwi x Sunset too, and the opportunity to have socially awkward SciTwi having a crush on her was just too much to pass up. I'm sure I'll write something about those two at some point, I'm just not sure what it'll be yet.

Hmm...writing for the background CPA students is certainly an interesting idea, but I can't say that I have any immediate ideas for them. Most of them don't have a ton of characterization in either MLP or Equestria Girls, so I'm a little afraid of making them too much like OCs...still, I did always like Fleur, even if she only got a couple of lines of dialogue, and she might be a cool opportunity to show that Crystal Prep Academy was never all bad. I'll keep it mind!

Thanks again for reading!

7570368 Thank you so much for reading  Glad I could make it cute! I like these two...Pinkie seems like the sort of person/pony who'd appreciate someone like Sugarcoat, and wouldn't judge her for her brutal honesty.

7571393 I used to think Sugarcoat was my favorite Shadowbolt, though I also enjoyed Sour-Sweet a lot in the movie, but since giving it some thought I can admit that despite a huge lack of characterization I love the potential of all of them nearly equally. Indigo seems like a less high-strung and insecure RD (basically chiller), and Lemon Zest is just adorable without appearing emotionally or intellectually weak (like Fluttershy or Sonata Dusk). Especially adorably when other characters call her simply "Lemon". For Sunny Flare though, it has to come down to what any particular author makes her...

And thanks for writing! It's a bit harder than reading :trollestia:

This was beyond cute.
At first, I was like, "How is Sugarcoat and Pinkie even going to work?"
Then you delivered.
Nice.

I'm also really starting to like different authors' takes on the Pie sisters.
Looking forward to your other stories.

7571819 Thanks so much  I'm glad you liked it! I didn't really think about Sugarcoat and Pinkie Pie that much at first, but the more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea.

Thanks for reading!

Wonder what Marble Sense does?

7635008 I'm honestly not sure...maybe the show will tell us! I imagine it's something sweet, though

7635427 I theorized that Marble Sense is the dirty and perverted kind.

“Ponies can’t turn into humans and travel to alternate worlds either. That doesn’t stop it from happening.”

This needs to be on a shirt

And now we have Lime sense, what is Marble sense?!

7687567 I honestly don't have a good idea for Marble Sense yet...Lime Sense sort of made sense to me, considering how protective she is of Holder's Boulder and the rock farm. And I figured that'd translate nicely to her being protective of her sisters  I imagine Marble Sense is something adorable, though.

Thanks for reading, and for the fave!

7687709 No problem, I have to say though, this is a ship that I would've never conceived, so good job!

Aw, this is cute. And a nice prequel for the other series. I suppose all of your stories take place in the same continuity, but still, very nice.

7845242 Thank you so much! Yeah, right now, the only story I've written that isn't in this continuity is, "A Draconequus Mourns"...I should probably put together a page that tells what stories are in this continuity, and their order, or something, at some point :twilightsheepish:

Thank you so much for reading! Glad you liked it!

Maud is best
this was to funny

7879293 Maud is so fun to write  Thanks for reading! I'm glad you liked it!

Have to say I think I'd have shipped Sugarcoat with a different Pie, but this worked much better than I expected! A refreshing take on Sugarcoat, and Sci-Twi too

This was a really cute story, and you may have converted me to supporting a ship that I never would have imagined working before.

Most adorable Sugarcoat fic I have ever read. This cute glasses Shadowbolt deserve more attention. thank you!

Does Boulder like Oatmeal Raisin Cookies?

Your take on Sugarcoat really strikes me as neurodivergent. Is that intentional? Because I'm all for it personally.

Thank you! I wouldn't have used the term "neurodivergent" while writing this, but it's not an inaccurate description. I was trying to write Sugarcoat as someone who has no pretenses and no understanding of why she'd ever say something untrue. Not malicious, just doesn't understand the concept of a "white lie" or withholding something to spare someone's feelings! So neurodivergent wasn't the intent, but she definitely thinks differently than other people, which could potentially be in the same category?
