The Captain of FlutterMac has returned with a great bounty, a low the loyal crew of the S.S Fluttermac rejoice and return to manning the venerable ship. Awesome oneshot. Your biggest strength is the emotion, we care and consider these characters as they interact rather than feel the need for instant gratification. Your ability to build the story to its point is amazing and I personally love the wing massage scene. My only critique would be that considering the time spent on there it would have been fun seeing Flutter's reciprocate the thoughtful and well written foreplay but that is a minor concern. Beyond that I am glad to read another FlutterMac fic from you and look forward to what ever it is you bring next time. Arrrr!
Aside from some grammatical errors and going a bit heavy on the foreplay, it still turned out great as always.:D

6666213 Yeah, when I saw MarbleMac enter the waters I realized that this kind of story would be needed more than ever. Personally I don't hate MarbleMac, but it tastes too much like Diet Fluttermac for me to be happy with it. And I'm never fully gone. I'm always hanging out in the shadows, biding my time and writing my stories. The reason I take so long is that I always wanna give my best to the people. 6666435 Ever since I saw the damage to the hull of our ship I've been working towards trying to raise the morale of it's members. I personally loved writing the wing massage scene. It's never the end result that we're really looking for, it's the journey there that's important.

Problem with Marble is she's just one emphasised part of the whole personality of Fluttershy: she's shy to the point of muteness. Fluttershy's shy, but she's also highly anxious and fearful, very gentle, submissive, bashful and concerned about others with an intense love of animals. These traits are then developed over the course of the show and give rise to her own unique brand of meekness, shyness and kindness that is countered and compounded by personal bravery, heavy social interaction with her animal friends (and her close friends) and some "tough love" that is becoming more apparent in this season and the last.
There's also the fact that Marble's character design is pretty much cribbed . People for some reason have fallen in love with this one-dimensional character despite or perhaps because of her overly gimmicky shyness and submissive attitude, and the attempts to make her seem cute in her scenes.
Granted, this is normal for a minor character that was minor even in the sole episode she appeared and was elaborated in, but the explosion of popularity is something I never understand for any one-dimensional minor character in this show.

6672221 It's a canon thing, I think. People can't help but latch onto the opportunity to ship something new. I'm more amused that the arguments for MarbleMac have been the same arguments we've been using for FlutterMac (and have been rejected) for a while and for some reason are now being accepted. In episode they did have some rather adorable interactions, though they didn't share a single word. But that's fine because Mac and Flutters haven't really shared many words either and they're still adorable. But I can never help but feel like I should be standing before the writers and gesturing towards the years of FlutterMac content and being like "Come on, you guys. We've been here and at least this adorable since season two." It's whatever...maybe a threesome fic bonding these two ships together in the future *wink wink* (but don't quote me on it)

6682653 To answer your question I would say that it is because it's pretty vanilla. Most clopfics that make it to featured wheel have a certain level of newness and kinkiness that makes it exciting and fresh. I don't mind. If the story attracts a more niche group of people then that's the fanfic market in its natural state. I'm certainly glad that you enjoyed it though

6669922 My main problem with MarbleMac is that most of what we "know" about Marble Pie is based on extrapolation, and sadly, most writers seem to have her as like Fluttershy, but quieter. This is especially problematic because their perception of Fluttershy is as shallow as Marble's impression in the show. I have no problems with extrapolating characters based on simple impressions (I enjoy fleshing out flat characters and filling in the blanks, and we all know how a fandom favorite got started
), but I wish they'd be a little more... unique with it.
For instance, Fluttershy is quiet most of the time, but she's not really the laconic type. Big Mac says what he needs to (and fate seems to conspire to give him yes-or-no questions all the time) and nothing more, but he's perfectly capable of being verbose with family on occasion (or when angered). Marble... well, she doesn't even say words, she makes sounds, and then only with the minimum of force needed. I really start to wonder if she has some kind of personality disorder, ranging from severe social anxiety to actual autism. I want to see a fic that explores that, dealing with the fact that her quietness - and possibly her personality - is very much not normal.
Also, the idea of a threesome fic with Mac, Marble, and Fluttershy seems oddly interesting. Maybe we should gather literally every quiet or shy mare in Equestria, too.
