The fic I'm reading Spark Visions of Twilight http://www.fimfiction.net/story/305096/spark-visions-of-twilight
features Twilight making commentary about the alternate timelines, namely that all the alternate timelines "want" to become as much like the real time line as possible, thus events will conveniently to facilitate it. This seems to be the example of that, each time line heading toward an Equestria similar to the "real" one. Thus Sombra is doomed to failure, and Nightmare may come to forgive Celestia and free her of her own volition. I kind of see Celestia in the universe where Nightmare rules having planned out her own defeat certain that Luna would eventuality come to her senses and free her, being willing to wait how ever long it took and sure her ponies would endure.

I love the fics like this that show Nightmare Moon as actually being Luna rather than possessed by the ridiculous parasite the comics have everyone thinking the Nightmare is. Until it's said in the show, Nightmare Moon will never be anything but a jealous, power-hungry Luna. I'd personally like to see more of Rarity and Nightmare Moon/Luna's relationship in perhaps a sequel set in the Eternal Night world. I think Rarity/Luna is a really cute pairing.

This story is amazingly written, I first must say. The only problem I have is that before Rarity introduces herself with her real name to Mac, he refers to her as her real name many times. Was that meant to be or just an accident?
