Well...Um....That was.....Yep I don't know what I can say other than that was painful. Not the "this story sucks, of god make it stop" painful, the emotionally painful kind. Saying goodbye, even for a little bit can be frightening at times, hell there was a time when I was terrified that when my parents would go for a drive or something like that, I'd never see them again.
Sometimes though saying goodbye is all you can do at times, even if it does hurt, cause if you don't say it you might never get to. Both my grandmother and recently my dog Charlie died and I couldn't say goodbye to either of them and that still hurts, even if only a little. Thankfully it's when you have friends to help with the pain that you can make it through and you captured that perfectly in this story.
The flashbacks were nice to and play off a theory I had, that Rainbow Dash is so Loyal because she's terrified of being alone which I again totally understand and can relate to, losing anyone is painful and it's never easy, and I think you did it nicely in this story.
So overall good solid work and I hope you do more with this.

Great story. I just happened upon this after watching the episode again, and it really acts as a great follow-up.
Misspelled "worth" there.
Repeated "bad happens". Also, this is a question so it should really end in a question mark.

I've only read one other work based on "Tanks for the Memories", but both works have been excellently written and pulls at the heartstrings in just the right ways. In fact, I found myself reading the lines in the characters' voices and mannerisms. A few grammar and syntax errors, but nothing so big as to detract from the story you wanted to get through. The backstories you gave Rainbow Dash give insight into why Rainbow was so reluctant to let Tank go, and I love that.

I'm glad someone tackled this. I thought RD's reaction to Tank's hibernation was too OOC for her. It's not like he was dying or anything. And I"m sure she's spent far longer away from her friends than a season. This does give clarity as to why she is so afraid of saying goodbye.
