Captain Cutie on duty!

Coco Pommel has been proud to call Manehattan her home. Her career may not be at its height, but all those years of keeping her chin up are finally starting to pay off when her quest to find her better future leads her to open her own boutique, albeit in the less-glamorous part of town.

One day, an old friend happens to wander into her store and present her with a rare opportunity. One that offers rewards that outlast the dreams of any and every burgeoning fashion designer.

Can she pull through and prove her worth, or will she be forced to go back to her roots of being a hapless needle jockey?

A nice, intriguing start to a look into Coco's life now she's free of Suri; what's not to like? Coco's first-person narration is a really good way to establish her character after the episode, and I really liked the little personality quirks and witticisms put in there to reinforce that. I'm interested to see where this goes; especially Coco's relationship with Rarity. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but I can't help but feel that some of Rarity's comments were a bit... backhanded. Trying to undermine Coco, I wonder? I shall be following to see what happens next... :raritywink:

I agree with Melon Hunter. The first-person narrative does help flesh out Coco after the quiet background performance we got from the show. I'm curious to see how well Rarity--or the rest of Manehattan--appreciates her in the future.

I'm lovin' it.:pinkiehappy:

Sorry I ain't got much else to say, their wasn't anything to wrong with it from where I'm reading and this is one of the best Coco stories I've read yet.

Hm, first Coco story I pick up and... it's rather good.

There were a few grammar things here and there, like capitalization and a bit of info-dump, but overall this chapter is very well thought out and has a nice progression from mundane to exciting. I also particularly enjoyed how smooth Coco's inner dialouge flowed, since most I read is very choppy and emotion driven.

Please do keep this up. You have me hooked.

Wow, Cross Stitch is really well developed for a grandma character. It's really nice to see sweet older characters in stories like this, especially since they are so rare in even published literature.

It was also really nice to see Frumpy have such a storied past. It's a terrible thing when a genius is supressed by the snobs of his time and you pulled it off so well, Frumpy has a Johnny Cash feel to him (one of the absolute best songwriters ever to be supressed by the snobs of his time).

Huh. The idea of a parade to celebrate the arrival of spring is a neat idea, especially in larger towns and cities where a winter wrap up might not take place. Of course, spring also heralds the return of all the little critters, both benign... and dastardly. Poor Coco is having a really bad day. :raritycry:

.... I want to hug Coco now...

Poor mare. Good drumming up the sympathy for her.

And so the drama intensifies with... Suri joining in.

I can honestly say Suri just became one of my most hated characters, right there with Gilda. Nice job on making me loathe her.

That duck... better run like hell. If Coco doesn't kill it, I most certainly will.

Whoa! Came back the day after to a lot of comments, and positive ones at that. Thank you very much! :raritywink:

I hope that I can find a resolution to this story soon. I have plenty of other things to write. :twilightblush:
